All that said Stromberg has always stayed "Golden" and my guess he would only come out of retirement for something like THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER, ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN or (my favorite) NIGHT OF THE HUNTER.

...not that we end up with two re-recordings for NIGHT OF THE HUNTER since Tadlow is also interested in doing it.

Whoever it may be... I hope it happens!

I'd kick in money for a Moby Dick Cantata by Tribute.

I would be DEFINITELY very interested in BLACK PATCH / FACE OF A FUGITIVE (and PURSUIT / SHAMUS or which one was another couple suggested) - perhaps if there is no label interested in doing these, this might be the next KS campaign - this time covering ALL recording fees, which might be certainly much lower than in case of KOK... Someone respectable just needs to be behind this.

Even if the music may not be that interesting, it would still make a very important release.

I too would love to see more Tribute CDs. A few favorites are ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN, NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, HONDO, VERA CRUZ, THE HANGING TREE, ON DANGEROUS GROUND, etc. Maybe in 2018?

Probably the Golden Age score I most want to see in a fresh recording is Rozsa's THE JUNGLE BOOK; however, I wouldn't expect the Tribute team to tackle this one, as they never did a full Rozsa, did they? Their interests seemed to center on Herrmann, Steiner, Korngold, Waxman and Salter/Skinner.

Thinking of the Herrmann scores that need a little love, I can't help but wonder what a new recording of THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD would sound under Stromberg's baton? I'm fairly happy with what we have, but the sound is kind of uneven on the Prometheus original tracks release, and I would love to hear a fresh interpretation in stellar sound. (And, yes, I have heard the Debney version, and it's not my cup of tea.)

Also, wouldn't it be great to hear a dynamic modern recording of the complete JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH without those horrible Pat Boone songs getting in the way?

I think Journey to the Center of the Earth would attract greater attention from potential fundraisers, as there is a re-recording of The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (which I think many people enjoy?).

Has anyone been in touch with Tribute team regarding a Tribute Film Classics Kickstarter reboot? Perhaps that might be the first step in moving the process forward followed by some sort of pole to gauge the interest of the suggestions that have been posted here?

Not yet. I would have posted a response. Concerning the other two questions: I don't know. At least John Morgan used to be here on this board, as did Mr. Stromberg.

TFC is also on Facebook...

William Stromberg is on Facebook if anyone here is friends with him and would like to send him a message...

Lionheart (Goldsmith) would benefit from a re-recording with the synths dropped.

Yavar why are you obsessed with BLACK PATCH and FACE OF A FUGITIVE!!! So far 3 different labels that I know of have rejected the idea of doing these scores. Yes, they are early Goldsmith, but while being interesting hardly set the world on fire musically. And even though the orchestras are not huge the new recording costs would never be covered by the sales ...and believe me I know exactly how many Goldsmith things like HOUR OF THE GUN, QBVII and SALAMANDER sold. The only way these will ever get recorded is if a label is a person as stupid as me were to fund such a venture.....smile

I am so very happy you were that stupid. :-)

A complete recording of ON DANGEROUS GROUND-Herrmann's Noir classic deserves to be resurrected even though the tour de force 'Death Hunt' and an other cue was addressed in a different reprise and arrangement on BATTLE OF NERETEVA TFC album.

Also a complete recording of THE GHOST AND MRS MUIR would be sure shot money maker, being a very colourful and lyrical romantic score that needs to be recorded again its entirety (The Bernstein re-recording is slightly different and shorter)

I would drop my dough for these recordings and YES! ... Bring on a complete THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER too -Herrmann's only Oscar winning score!

Whats so great about TFC music label is when handling the music of Bernard Herrmann in particular that they not only have the music played out passionately and perfectly; the music is accurately recorded as per Herrmann's original instructions (the miking and stereo imaging all come down just great)

I'd buy it... but if it were a sure shot "money maker", I'm sure somebody would record it. I'm afraid it is not. Trouble is, very few if any orchestral studio recordings make money any more, no classical recordings, no film score recordings, costs are too high, sales too low... just not enough people buying recordings anymore.

With the success of the Tadlow Kickstarter has anyone heard word from Tribute? Both John and Bill are active on Facebook but I didn't see any remarks by them. If they produced a shorter score like maybe 50 minutes, smaller orchestra, then less costs?

If there's a TFC comeback with crowd funding I'd back them 99,9% and 100% for anything Herrmann. razz

Haven't heard anything and would post it here if I had.

But why wait until we hear from them? Make your voices heard! Show them there's interest! Contact them on Facebook!

Not only are very few film music recordings money makers at all, Ghost and Mrs. Muir (lovely as it is) is far less needed than some other Herrmann scores. We got a (very good sounding) release of the complete original film tracks from Varese -- hopefully they reissue their Herrmann at Fox box set master as a standalone CD in their 500 series, since it did fix some issues with their prior release. AND we got a well-performed and great-sounding re-recording by Elmer Bernstein in the 70s, albeit not complete. In a perfect world yes we'd have a new complete recording, but since resources are limited I think it's a much higher priority to newly record good Herrmann scores that are otherwise lost and unavailable, ie. Endless Night or The Bride Wore Black. I could maybe see an exception made for his great score to On Dangerous Ground (its sound quality issues are more significant than The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, though I still find the FSM quite enjoyable).

Yavar
