I'm curious now - did Platoon cost significantly more to release due to it being recorded in Canada?

Did Quartet decide the eat the cost or has the Canada Musician's Union finally changed it's mind and decided to play ball?

That last one would be fantastic!

When Love Story was initially released, any self-respecting film music enthusiast wouldn't be seen dead with the LP because it was considered to be music for their mothers and grandmothers to weep to whilst sitting on the sofa doing their knitting.

Funny how the announcement of the expanded score to THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS caused me to scream like a goat!

A terrific batch of releases, Quartet! Good work. Amarcord's the ace for me.

Yo YO! I haven't heard any of those scores, though I do recall how well SOTL worked as a score in the movie.

I was hoping for my usual (I know, I'm way predictable): Goldsmith, Herrmann, Alfred Newman. But SOTL is a definite, plus I can pick up some Rustichelli while I'm there.

Not taking any chances. Ordered Silence of the Lambs immediately. It puts the CD in the shopping basket...

I don't think Quartet really does Golden Age Hollywood scores, just FYI. Alfred Newman would be shock to see from them. And I think they've only ever released five or six Goldsmiths (two of them last year). I wasn't expecting anything from those composers in this batch, but Rota, Shore, and Delerue are no slouches!

......hearing the announcement that it won the Best Score Oscar over PATTON!

Yes! Love Story is one of my favorite scores from this magnificent composer. Thanks Quartet for giving us the clues on Valentine's Day, otherwise I might not be able to nail it. Almost forgot to mention the artwork. Never seen this before but I like it.

I'm always dreaming about Alfred reissues, nevermind me. I love the man's music.

Yeah, me too. At this point you'd have to keep your eyes on Kritzerland and La-La Land (since the latter has hinted at working on an official expanded Diary of Anne Frank), and also perhaps Intrada who have released many fine Newman scores further in the past. SAE/BYU don't seem to be doing Newman any more, and even their Max Steiner releases have become very infrequent.

I guess they are keeping "8 1/2" for a more important occasion wink I'll be waiting!

My holy triumvirate of Fellini scores is La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2, and Juliet. I happily grabbed the first of these, and will wait patiently for the other two!

I just pre-ordered Platoon and Silence of the Lambs from Intrada's site. Very excited to get these!

Speaking of Rota what are the chances to see his DEATH ON THE NILE reissued?

The prices of the previous releases are literally INSANE now!
