This is most welcome - and the Lerner disk sounds interesting too With Sony being back on the board, I wonder if some kind of Mancini "odds and ends" disk could be compiled. There are still orphan single and album tracks (let alone probably unreleased titles) that have not yet been available digitally. His album with Lola Albright also comes to mind (Sony already should have a transfer of that). Similarly, there are a few pretty rare albums that have not yet been on CD.

This will do well because my dealers are taking a goodly amount, but if you want to know about this very board, maybe this will tell you what soundtrack labels are dealing with and why so many of them to films from the 90s (the 80s have become passe), and now the 2000s, because God knows nostalgia must be as current as a decade ago - this morning I awoke to about seventy new orders - sixty-seven were for Alan Jay Lerner Revisited - three were for Advise and Consent. You can't even get certain people to open the thread let alone listen to the samples because you know scores from the 60s are so ANCIENT and heaven knows it's not sci-fi or super-hero related. THAT is why soundtrack labels parse these out so sporadically. That said, this will be fine with the dealer orders and will most likely sell out once those occur. I just think this board is skewed so far away from these classics.

Bruce, why do you turn every release announcement into a guilt trip for collectors - many of whom are either strapped for cash or strapped for space? I post because I'm endlessly fascinated by this stuff. I'm not the only label who posts things like this - I remember when A Certain Smile was stiffing like crazy and those posts. Perhaps you might try contributing to this thread and this score? What a notion! Oh, and since making that post about six Advise and Consent orders came in, so maybe a little nudge here and there is a good thing.

Maybe the orders are skewed because folks are planning to get this from other soundtrack stores (to combine shipping with other titles). If the Alan Jay Lerner title isnt carried by them, then it makes sense you'll get more direct orders for that one. I plan on ordering A&C from another store to combine shipping. I never pursued this soundtrack before (not a big fan of the movie), but samples are good and this seems to be "the" release to get. Btw, I only read threads about "ancient" soundtracks. I'm sure that's probably correct, but in days of old it wasn't quite like this - yes, the dealer orders were always how we would sell out, but our site orders were much healthier back then. THAT's nostalgia, baby.

We just shipped out Bogart's Face so if you ordered The Verdict with that you should have them shortly.

I was very late to the Jerry Fielding party, only really getting turned on to his music when my interest was waning against the modern day Zimmer groove. And this despite always loving the old Outlaw Josey Wales LP I had. But it was a great time to do it. It seemed every label was putting out his classic stuff from the past. Discovering all those brilliant scores from FSM and Intrada was amazing. I don't know where I bagged my copy of the Spanish RCA CD for A&C, but I think I got a decent deal, not paying much over the odds. Anyway, my point. I dug it out today to see if an upgrade was in order. It was the one score by him that I just never really got into. Every time I played it, I would lose interest or start humming A Summer Place instead. It sounds quite Golden Age to me and while that's no bad thing in general, for me, that sound has never really grabbed me baby. I'm a silver ager!! I never heard that Fielding sound that I got from his westerns or thrillers or murder dramas or sci-fi/action epics. The sound isn't great on the old Spanish CD (though it's not terrible either), so I have no doubt the sonic upgrade will be aces, but it will still be the same music that I never really fell for. And with 20 new CD's vying for my attention every month, I will have to make a decision at some point. But a decision I will make...and it will be the right one.
