Despite the La-La Land - Universal deal, it looks as if Intrada isn't quite done with Universal yet. smile

Wow! What an sonic upgrade! The raw isolated DVD has nothing on this. Incredible - can hear so much more from the mix now. What a release. Well done Intrada!

Surprised source music seems to have been left off by the looks. Not end of the world. Was that JG too, or traditional?

Oh God, don't remind me of that source music! It might be right in the middle of one of the best unreleased cues, so don't hold out hope!

Instant purchase, love this Goldsmith score. Saw this at my local theatre with my siblings and fiancée. Wow almost 20 years ago!

Need to watch The Mummy 2 again for Silvestri's score.

I forgot I had a sealed blu ray in my collection of THE MUMMY RETURNS. Need to see it soon.

This release plus the Varese expanded SMALL SOLDIERS really gives me a wealth of 90's Goldsmith to enjoy. So excited to have THE MUMMY expanded, it truly is a high watermark in JG's final years, along with THE 13TH WARRIOR and HOLLOW MAN.

Always thought THE MUMMY score played well as released, but don't remember any of the music missing from the OST. Many here seem to think it's worth picking up again, so what if they are right? :-)

And then there's THE MUMMY RETURNS, where I don't have any previous release.

I admit.... I cannot resist this. I will not resist this. Resistance is futile. I shall go now and order both.

I don't think that The Mummy falls into the "Oh god the 2-disc set completely reinvented the music for me" category (not like Alien 3 or The Lost World), it's more the "Look at that, so much more content, it's delicious don't stop" category like Starship Troopers or The Mummy Returns, IMO.

It's a really nice, neat, powerful, suspenseful score that deserved this.

I might get this one first, just to be different than usual for me as I have a ton of Goldsmith while the only Silvestri scores I own are Roger Rabbit and Predator 2.

You need to get on the Silvestri train, buddy. Choo-choo.

I've always thought the action music in this one was especially strong. Such excitement in those big, stomping, furious rhythms! The orchestra must have had a blast with this score. Not Goldsmith's most "artful" score per se but a damn exhilarating one that's gotten me through many a treadmill runs while blasted at full volume. I'll be excited to pick up this and the Silvestri.

Intrada, between these and the Rocket Gibraltar, you've been hurtin' my bank account quite a bit of late... Start releasing some mediocre stuff, won'tcha?

What's typical size of an orchestra? Intrada says Jerry conducted a 90 piece orchestra for The Mummy. That sounds huge to me.
I thought I heard that Silvestri conducted one of the largest orchestras ever assembled for Back To The Future in 1985 but I have no idea what the number was.

Well, there were 145 musicians for BTTF.
But this includes ALL sessions, so maybe he used normal size of orchestra, but musicians varied, from day to day...

I believe there was 6 or 8 horns on the Mummy - the opening track are played with Wagner Tubas

No such luck here. frown

Really hoping it ships in time to arrive on Saturday. Typically, when I order new releases from Intrada on Monday night, they arrive in Pennsylvania by Friday or Saturday. I've LOVE to spend the weekend listening to both MUMMY scores!

The BTTF score was also essentially recorded twice.
