I don't mind it, but there's nothing of interest here in terms of melody or emotional resonance, and this hip hop funky folly stuff's been done better elsewhere. Like actual pop music, for example!
Although I have zero interest in super heroes, I very much look forward to playing this score. I heard so far only the excerpt available on YouTube (I think it's the last cue of the CD) and am very enthusiastic about it. A pity the CD release has been pushed up until the end of the year, which means I'll find it probably in January.
very impressive score with some great ideas... main theme is catchy enough and gets plenty of playing time and some other themes are among the most beautiful of the year (MJ's cues), while others wouldn't be entirely out of place in a Godzilla or King Kong films with their moster-movie feel.
I just saw this yesterday. The film itself is inventive, funny and thoroughly entertaining and is quite possibly the best Spider-Man movie ever. Yeah, it's that good. As far as the score is concerned, as heard in film, nothing really struck home with me other than it was inclusive of multiple genres.
But for anyone who is a Spider-Man fan, you owe it to yourself to see this movie. It's really, really good.
Thanks for the link. The "pretty" music is nice. Some cues are reminiscent of 21/22 Jump Street which I love. Other samples were just painful to my ears. I guess you would call this alternative music.
I was talking to a buddy of mind about the score and I still feel that Pemberton seems to be in 2005 John Powell mode here. Some good moments in the film, but one of the key themes starts exacty the same way as Schifrin’s Plot theme from M:I. The film itself is really good! Surprisingly emotional, with a GREAT voice cast.
Ive watched the trailer a few times. At first I was turned off by the art design but its growing on me. Clearly they went for an animated "graphic novel" approach. It gets more interesting every time I view the trailer. Seems like a fun film without falling into camp. A break from the ultra serious comic book movies we've been getting lately.
The trailer animation really turned me off, but in the movie itself it was beautiful. I don't know if it was slightly unfinished in the trailers or if seeing it on a Dolby screen made a big difference or if it was just that it fit the narrative better than it fit the chopped nature of a trailer, but the whole movie was beautiful.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I'll go see this one.
Is it just the streams of this that sound like shit or what? Does anyone have a lossless download to A/B these? It sounds like it was mastered from 128 WMA files or something.
