Fantastic? Yes. Finest? No. Hmmm. John Carter is up there. I'm still a big Rogue One fan. The Incredibles is still incredible. Lost is quite the opus.

Anyone praising this score ought to just go listen to Agent Cody Banks. Same thing, but better.

Tough crowd. I evidently have a thing for flat, bland, painful, reshuffled, and just there film music. I agree with Star Trek Into Darkness (a film title seemingly designed for the puneriffic Giacchino). It sure is a powerhouse score. I’ve listened to John Carter before, once in film and once on album, and I’m afraid I didn’t get anything out of it. I obviously need to try it again. I’d be interested to see how Cody Banks sounds with the comparisons to Homecoming here. And thanks for the advice on Google, Peter. FSM search turned up nothing for me, yet there it is: the thread I knew must surely exist. Anyway this thread will serve its own broader purpose: a discussion of Giacchino’s finer works.

Folks can be pretty hard on Giacchino around these parts, alas.
