I mainly remember this movie for showing a little kid get ripped to pieces on-screen. I'm guessing they were trying to top Alex Kitner's death in Jaws, but it's a worthy HOLY SHIT moment anyhow.

I have vague memories of the film. I remember it being extremely violent.

Clint Walker could have handled the situation.

I think it is so cool this got released for those who have been pining for it so. And love the lower prices. I'm on a moratorium on purchases for the moment, but this one is most def on the list.

I’m enjoying my instant download after purchasing the CD right now. With only 500 released I waisted no time purchasing as soon as I got the email. Not that I would have waited any longer if there were 5000. Love those horror scores! Nice release Dragon’s Domain!! Always a cool movie to watch, and now a great CD to spin.

I'm glad you are enjoying it.

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!

Just ordered this, along with The Plague Dogs. Dragon's Domain are fantastic, and I am loving the inclusion of an instant download.

Does it cost the label a lot more to secure such rights, or is this not a big extra? I'd love to see other labels doing such things, if it were possible.

Thanks for posting that link Sarge.
It's got that early/raw/John Williams 70s disaster sound to it...that I bloody love!
I'm brewing an order for BSX and this title will most certainly be part of it.

And I agree with bobb. They're really unearthing some gems by forgotten or underrated film composers who deserve some time in the sun. Really looking forward to more Lee Holdridge and Merrill Jenson.

We suspected you'd be very happy about this release.

Don't know why we would have thought that however.

Thanks to the magic of the instant download, I'm currently listening to the Grizzly album, way before I get the physical copy. So far, it sounds magnificent. So much clearer and smooth than the rip I made of my vinyl edition.

Truly a great release, and yet more evidence that Dragon's Domain are quietly, but consistently, striking gold in the world of soundtrack fans.

That's weird, not seeing any kind of email confirmation or that a download came with it. :/

If the order number is #1824 then the issue is that you didn't include a working phone number or a email address for the confirmation to be sent to.

email us at info@buysoundtrax.com and we'll have the link sent to you.

Is this the same program and run time as the LP, or does this have any extra/unreleased stuff?

The LP was 15 tracks and about 39 minutes, so e'yup, there's unreleased stuff here!

You're right, there is definitely music on here that's not on the Vinyl album. I haven't been able to do a proper full comparison, but after listening (and thoroughly enjoying) this new version this evening, I reckon the new tracks are as follows (Note: that I'm not saying this is any sort of definitive breakdown, and some of these tracks do seem to contain ideas from other tracks, but still have music and arrangements I can't recall being on the vinyl album).

08 Sunrise on the Tower (Pastoral orchestra leading to aggressive attack music, and quirky synths)

10 Boy in Yard_Boy Attacked (Gentle woodwinds leading to tension strings, creepy synths and then driving attack music)

16 What Makes A Man A Man_Instrumental (This is similar to the End Credits track fro the original album, but that version moved into the choral version of the song. This one leads to an absolutely lovely instrumental version of the song, with jaunty drums, which ends on an epic, triumphant orchestral ending. Cracking!)

17 What Makes A Man A Man_Vocal (The main song, but with a single lounge singer style vocal. Great for finger pistol winks at the the mirror).

The above extra stuff is enough in itself, but the sound quality for me is a bit of a revelation.

Bravo!

Holy Smokes, I just spotted a hidden track too! Wait till the end of Track 17, for a haunting little treat.

The extra tracks are present of the original Japanese LP (the Truluv and Seven Seas LPs had slightly different configurations - with the Japanese LP including Sunrise on Tower and Boy Attacked cues and different presentation of the climactic and some other music as well as additional "What Makes a Man a Man" cues)

The haunting little treat appears to have come from an international release print as it omits the very last phrase which provides a "resolution" of sorts to the piece ... this was omitted from the International prints distributed by Columbia as it accompanied a Film ventures International tag as the final credit.

Ah, thanks for the heads up about the Japanese edition. I must have the other version...though sadly I don't have it anymore because a bunch of my vinyl albums were lost during a house move a few years ago, and Grizzly was one of them. So I've only been able to listen to my own cruddy, digital vinyl rip since then.

How amazing to be hearing it now in such a rich, crisp sounding package!

GRIZZLY - ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK BY ROBERT O' RAGLAND (CD COMES WITH FREE 24/44.1KHZ/MP3/DIGITAL BOOKLET EXCLUSIVE BUNDLE)

https://tinyurl.com/ydbmc9go
SRP: $16.95

Here is a audio sample from this album: https://tinyurl.com/y8rl2n4m

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the world premiere compact disc release of GRIZZLY, featuring music composed by Robert O. Ragland (10 TO MIDNIGHT, Q, THE WINGED SERPENT, ASSASSINATION) for the 1976 horror thriller directed by William Girdler, written by Harry Flaxman and David Sheldon, starring Christopher George, Andrew Prine, Richard Jaeckel , Joe Dorsey and Teddy the bear as the Grizzly.

GRIZZLY is a tale of realistic terror about the largest ground beast in the world, an eighteen foot, two thousand pound grizzly bear that goes on a massive killing spree in the serene setting of a national park. Park Ranger Micheal Kelly (George) and wildlife specialist Arthur Scott (Jaeckel) combine their efforts to fight two enemies: the bloodthirsty bear and park supervisor Charley Kittredge (Dorsey) who wants to keep the park open despite the inherent danger.

Unable to stop the bear using any conventional methods, Kelly employs the talents of helicopter pilot Don Stober (Prine), a Vietnam veteran. Kelly and Stober take to the skies with high powered rifles and a rocket launcher. Meanwhile, Scott loses his life trying to take the bear alive with a powerful tranquilizer. Can Stober and Kelly stop the bear before it kills again?

Playing the piano at the age of five set the tone for Robert O. Ragland’s lifelong interest in music. Throughout his school years, he performed and organized dance bands. After graduation from Northwestern University, Ragland served as an arranger for the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra. Later, he attained degrees in music from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and attended the Academy of Music in Vienna. Following the death of Tommy Dorsey, Ragland officially left the music business for his stint in advertising. But the urge to write film music overwhelmed him so he came to California.

Some of Robert O. Ragland’s diverse credits include RETURN TO MACON COUNTY, PONY EXPRESS RIDER, SHARK’S TREASURE, PROJECT: KILL, ABBY, MANSION OF DOOM, JAGUAR LIVES, Q, THE WINGED SERPENT, MESSENGER OF DEATH, 10 TO MIDNIGHT, THE FEAR, ORION’S KEY, TOP OF THE WORLD and MOTEL BLUE. Ragland passed away in 2012 at the age of 80. In his later years, Ragland also conducted the music for many live awards shows including the Oscars and the Emmys.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring GRIZZLY to compact disc for the first time, featuring music composed and conducted by Robert O. Ragland, featuring orchestrations by Jack Hayes, performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of London. GRIZZLY is a limited edition release of 500 units. Suggested retail price is $16.95. GRIZZLY is expected to begin shipping the week of September 24th, 2018.

Well, there was a tough choice to decide whether to go with "Bazooka" or "Rocket launcher."
