Intrada does pretty well with those 80s synth releases -- hell The Delta Force got reissued (by someone else, granted). Certainly there's just as big enough a market for a Faltermeyer release compared to, say a couple completely obscure Alex North scores (and NO this is not a diss on that release, just a comparison)
Much bigger even, I think. As FB says, Faltermeyer isn't that far behind Moroder in terms of pop appeal, and any release of his music -- regardless of how obscure or forgotten the film is today -- would sell like hotcakes in both the film music and the pop music market.
I have this score. I remember coming out of the cinema thinking I must get it, but having had it on CD for years now it barely gets any play. All I remember about the CD was that I was disappointed by it, but I can't remember why not for the life of me.
I really hope one of Faltermeyer's scores sees a release this year. I'd absolutely love to see BHC, Fletch & Fletch Lives and Top Gun get the expanded/complete treatment that Tango & Cash and The Running Man got. Fletch & Beverly Hills Cop are definite holy grails of mine.
