Aside from including that great missing Caretaker (Voyager pilot) cue on their 50th Annivesary set because of all the requests, I would point out LLL also included the remainder of Jay Chattaway's excellent debut score to Tin Man. So if one has the GNP TNG Vol. 4 and the LLL 50th, one can construct the complete score. That's what I wanted most in a potential expansion of the Vol. 4 material, so it made me very happy.

Fair points all around, there's just better sound quality overall on the LLL albums, seeing as technology has improved in the years since Vol 4 was released. I always wind up having to turn up the volume on both Vol 3 and Vol 4! smile

Ah, GNP. Brings me back to those days of my budding soundtrack collecting. I remember really looking forward of their release of OUTLAND/CAPRICORN ONE (78 mins of music, wow!!). And of course all of their Trek releases. It was nice to see them come out of hibernation a few years back, and it's too bad they haven't continued to revisit and renew their catalogue. They seem to have mostly handed the reigns over to the La La Land folks, and I am okay with that. I treasure their complete FAIRPOINT and BEST OF BOTH WORLDS releases, and I even still enjoy the originals of those. I would be all over a complete release of YESTERDAY'S ENTERPRISE on a future release too. Either way the chips fall, we have had it GOOD.

The early posts in this thread are a good reminder why we should be grateful for LLL for cleaning up GNP's awful Mission: Impossible and Outer Limits sets.

If their Star Trek releases from a few years ago didn't do as expected, and their Star Trek releases from back in the day didn't do as expected (alluded to at the time of the TOS set), then perhaps their expectations were unrealistic.

Either way I'm grateful they helped pave the way. Trying to be in this business in the days before the Internet must have been an interesting challenge.

Why would GNP's releases not do well, while La La Land's seem to be doing okay? I can't see their books, obviously, but the La La Land folks have been producing multiple boxed sets, with more on the way. Could it be just the advertising is different?

I was suggesting perhaps GNP's expectations are not realistic to this particular business model and they choose not to play. I'm sure LLL would like to sell records like they were Capitol in the 60s, 70s and 80s, but settle for what they themselves have described as very slim margins.

We know they do it because they love the music like we do. Maybe they love it more than GNP does.
