sucks Bruce, Only the most clueless swine would post that sort of remark about his score. This score really was rather good overall in my view, The late Mr. Rosenman put a great deal of effort and art into this score and to dismiss it in such a RUDE AND CHILDISH manner does the man and his memory a great disservice. You are free to have your own opinion and even dislike it, but how about somethiing a bit more thoughtful then a one word insult that is on the level of a four year old. Ford A. Thaxton

Listening to the 1991 Intrada CD I find the sound a bit lacking (the score is, of course, wonderful!) Can anyone comment as to whether the later, reissued (re-mastered) CD of Rosenman's score is significant enough an improvement to warrant re-purchase. I would buy a better sounding version of this in a heartbeat! Thanks, Bob Bryden, Canada I'm not sure it was REMASTERED at all. I'm fairly certain they used the INTRADA CD (or their master) to produce this release. Ford A. Thaxton

sucks That's a pretty boorish one word slap, considering how good that score is and just how fine a composer Rosenman was. Why do you continue to be an intrusive ass?

I'll say this, and I think I've said this on this board before, but not wanting to be a bore, like Thor, I'll just get to the core and not simply dull our senses silly by hacking up an old thread. I appreciate this composition 10 fold now more than I did back in 1978. He put a lot of work into an ambitious but lousy movie. There. No muss. No fuss. No vomiting up of things past written.

I never had a problem with the sound, but I'm not an obsessive audiophile. As regards the score itself, I'll repeat myself here and say that it's an absolute masterpiece. Of course, you'd probably have to love Rosenman's music in general to like this one (it's so goddam Rosenman!), but I'd say it's one of his very best. The action stuff is thrilling and terrific, but even the "creeping around" cues are enthralling, for me at least. Rosenman was one of the few composers I can think of who could make "padding" (for want of a better word) musically interesting.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, Tester, but let me say I just love that "noise" you refer to!

Is there anybody out there who could recommend Rosenman’s ‚Lord of the Rings‘? Or, to be more precise:- Is it a ‚must-have‘? - What other popular score could you liken it to? - How's the sound quality? - Would it be compatible with my taste if I usually buy Williams, don’t buy Zimmer and deny that I used to buy James horner? As always, recommendations are always appreciated. You guys introduced my to Korngold, and I’m still grateful for that! Rosenman is definitely an aquired taste. Believe me, it is nothing like Shores massive score and his style is nothing like Williams. While I do like "Star Trek IV", overall I cannot listen to most of his work. I have listened to his Lord of the Rings twice and I won't do it again. While he is not my cup of tea, he has alot of fans on this board.
