Isn't it fairly easy to find nowadays, though? I don't know, I'm not up-to-date on the soundtrack market, but it used to be fairly available just a few years ago. If it's not, though, sure - go ahead! - rerelease it.

This is VERY easy to find and pretty inexpensive.

Indeed. Removing the dialogue from this album would be like removing the quotes of "Swan Lake": unthinkable.

Still, I wonder what could be missing that will be featured on this newer version.

I'll wait for someone else to spend the 20 bucks and then explain before I buy it.

Gonna be fantastic to finally have the full version of "This Is the One"! Preordered. Can't wait to watch the film on Blu-ray around Halloween, too smile

The ED WOOD disc shows up in used CD stores pretty regularly.

I don't know why Elfman wasn't used to score ED WOOD, but Howard Shore really came through with a winner of a score.

The reason is very simple, this project happened during period after "The Nightmare Before Christmas" that Elfman and Burton had a falling out and as a matter of fact HENRY MANCINI was set to score ED WOOD, but due to his illness had to leave the project and I'm told he was the one (or his agent) that suggested Howard Shore to Burton.

As a Matter of fact I'm told that Shore was set to score MARS ATTACKS, however Elfman and Burton settled their problems and Burton decided to use Elfman instead.

Such is life in Hollywood.

Ford A. Thaxton

Just an aside,
The tale of Burton and Elfman patching things up so Elfman could do Mars Attacks! is in the liner notes to the expanded release from LLL. You are correct Shore was set to score that film. Would be fun to know what kind of score Shore would have written for that film. I really like Elfman's score though. Interesting info about Mancini, Ford. I do recall, now that you mention it, at the time the film was announced hearing that Mancini was connected to the film.

Imagine how many scores of Elfman's we wouldn't have had for Burton films if they hadn't set aside their differences.

If I recall correctly, Burton wanted the 50's Universal "creature style" score. Mancini would have nailed it beyond a doubt. Check out the "Monster Movie Suite" on his "Mancini In Surround" disc.

Very good news.

I was just listening to ED WOOD on Friday, a used copy I'd found about a year ago. I like the original CD a lot, but I'll be there for a bit more of this wonderful score.

Great score to a great movie!

Anyone know if this will also be available through SAE (my usual choice for soundtrack buying)? Or just Amazon?

Tracklisting is up for the expanded reissue.

It seems the extended film version of "This is the One" is NOT included. What a missed opportunity.

Yes, it looks like about 11 or 12 minutes of extra music. Since I have the original, I don't think I'll spring for this.

Have they removed the dialogue? That's all I care about.

I really like the dialog. It is an example of how dialog can be used to good effect on an album.

Yeah, if there's no expanded "This is the One" then I'm happy with my original album.

Likewise. Just cancelled my preorder. Oh well :/

Do your current-day album purchases, even of older material, sound better than CD's that were released in 1994?

If the music is what matters, you have your answer.

Since this one sounded so good in '94, I'm sure it'll really wow me remastered.

It can go either way. There was good and bad mastering in 1994, and there is good and bad mastering now.

My original CD sounds fine, and there is no way I'm going to re-purchase a semi-expanded version. Either do it right or don't bother.

And if Howard Shore has any say in the matter, I hope this release means that some of his Cronenberg scores may be on their way.

I'd like to see "Guilty As Sin" then, if he's looking into his past scores.
