I managed to snag the cast and crew promo CD, which is really wonderful - fifty-one tracks, I believe. I also got what was called an advance promo CD from the UK - this one has 26 tracks and I've never seen it listed anywhere else. It has the movie art on the front of a folded insert, and the track titles on the back, and says "This promotional CD has been released by EMI on the express condition that ownership and title remain vested in EMI, which may require delivery of this record at any time. It may not be sold, transferred, altered or copied (inc. burning or uploading to the INTERNET) without the express prior written approval of EMI." Next to that is the Walt Disney Records logo. What seems odd to me is the EMI thing - what do they have to do with Walt Disney Records?

Hahaha....I guess they couldn't find anything better to spend their money on, so they settled on that. Me, I just downloaded the promo off the internet. If someone comes in here and says I'm a dick for doing that, f**k yourself, you're nuts!

Well there was two goober dudes on Ebay who were promoting they had an original copy of "For Your Consideration" But all it turned out to be is a CDR of the original soundtrack NOTHING NEW---- and a fancy ONE page mock up of "For Your Consideration"

ANYONE can do that.... That is what i am saying. Watch out for those Vultures on Ebay.

One lady, after I quizzed her, I found out, it was NOT Academy Approved. I know THEY being the Academy told everyone to stop with this practice, but redid it.

BUT, my understanding by the Academy is that they PROMOTE the cd's after the TOP 5 have been nominated.

That is my understanding.

But to think spending what? over 500 plus on a CDR of the regular music. Buyers Beware of those scum buckets.

Cirtap, I couldn't quite grasp what you're getting at.

Yes, the Academy did briefly ban the use of "For Your Consideration" CDs, but reversed itself later.

They send out the CDs in order to encourage nomination. That's why they spend the money.

Is that what you were asking?

I was told that they are promoting only the top 5 nominations. Remember it is Composers nominating Composers. and Then the Academy sends out those For Your Consideration Cd's.

Oh. I believe you were told wrong.

I've never known any parties in any award show to send out screeners or the like after the nominations were out.

EMI distributes Walt Disney Records label here in Europe.

I hope that if UP will end up as the Academy Award winner this year then WDR will release an actual physical CD.

They didn't release it on CD when the spotlights were on the movie, they neither did when the spotlights were on the DVD release, do you really think that the Oscars would be enough ?

I'm afraid it's too late. We'll never see it on CD. Damn those executives who were WRONG on this case. If I was part of the executive comitee, I would fire the stupids who mad me loose $$$.

And don't tell me Disney was right and saved money in NOT releasing Up on CD as some people are paying $610 for a pressed Cd of Up.

Ya know, Walt Disney Records may not ever issue it, but what's to prevent the likes of Intrada from issuing it in a limited edition?

I have a friend on the inside at Disney. She said they pressed less than a thousand of the cast and crew CDs.

She has one. And is taunting me with it.

Less than a thousand, then I need to keep my copy SAFE. Do you know any details on the Academy Promo, did they make CDR's and pressed CD's and is there anyway to tell between a fake and real one. Just curious that's all. I'm toying with an idea of framing it, alogn with another promotional thing from the score. Who knows, just thinking outloud.

YAH!! I won my auction!! Now I'm going to get my stuff nicely framed. I didn't want to spend the money on this little thing, but oh well.

Kind of a neat item, it's a DVD that's sent out for the score Oscar and such. I'm such a happy camper now!!

Well, if you look good in ladies' lingerie and don't mind chilly nights hanging out on street corners, you might have a shot at duh money. Otherwise, I'm afraid you'll have to sell a kidney.

I'M WORTH MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

I try to have my friends over every other night, they like to watch me play with my money!!!!!

Video should be up shortly on youtube!!

Bragging, for someone who has spent SEVERAL thousand dollars out of my own pocket to film the Varese event and the 2009 composer signing. Then spend another month in editing to give YOU a video, so you can see the composers and see what they look like and the cool interaction between the fans and them.

I have been quite fortunate and I don't take ANY of it for granted, for a guy who's had a escaped death, I take NOTHING for granted, you silly spymaster you!!!
