I realized something with this announcement: if I had gone back in time just one year and showed this image...

... to folks on this forum, I'd be accused of Photoshop fakery! (The Schifrin set is an exception.)

Interesting times we live in. smile

WHY WASN'T LIZ TAYLOR tapped for the sequels?

So...are all future track-by-track liner notes from FSM only going to be available on-line? frown

Mr. Jack, I'd bet Lukas did that to keep the cost of this particular set down.

oh and I LOVE the back cover qoute from the film!

Quite an interesting allowance on the studio's part, if you were to ask me. Times change, and studio chairman, in particular, get a bit frantic about this approach within modern times.

He's never done that before for a 2-CD set...

The essay portion of the notes was running long and I simply decided to move all the track-by-track notes to the booklet in order to let everything be as long and thorough as I wanted it to be. Same thing with Marathon Man.

Can someone provide a link to the liner notes for this (and "Marathon Man as well)? I can't seem to find them on the FSM site.

This is the link FSM's 'online notes' page as far as I can tell:

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/notes/

I would imagine the Cleopatra Jones notes perhaps aren't quite ready yet?

The notes for Marathon Man/Parallax only seem to consist of the movie notes to Marathon Man:

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/notes/marathon_man.html

The links to the rest of the notes for Marathon/Parallax don't work, which is a shame as of course people are now receiving their copies of that CD....

I found the "Cleopatra Jones" notes. They just aren't accessible from the Online Notes tab yet.

I would have never thought this would be a score release, I was just looking for a DVD copy of the second Cleo film and noticed it has never been released in the US... maybe WB's will issue a double feature DVD/ BD with both films, doubt it but would be fun.

Since the first film has already been issued, a double feature of the two seems unlikely. But there still may be hope. Recently, Warner Bros. released a two-disc DVD set of four black action films: three from Warners ("Black Belt Jones," "Hot Potato," and "Black Samson") and one from Allied Artists ("Three the Hard Way"). I would have thought that "Casino of Gold" would have been a higher profile film than "Hot Potato," but what do I know. Warners still has a few more black action films in their library (among them: Fred Williamson's "Black Eye"; Godfrey Cambridge's "Come Back, Charleston Blue"; Thalmus Rasulala's "Cool Breeze"; and Bernie Casey's "Hit Man and "Brothers"), so maybe a volume two is in the offing.

Notes have not been put up yet Bruce asked Lukas on Marathon Man Thread yesterday about them.

Lukas Reply:

Curly: I'll do it when I'm ready!
Moe: Are you ready?
Curly: Yeah, I'm ready.

There are now links to the online notes for both releases (CLEOPATRA JONES and the Michael Small scores) on the online notes "front page" (http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/notes/) as well as the individual CD pages (http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/detail.cfm?cdID=447 and http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/detail.cfm?cdID=448). Happy reading everyone! And don't forget there are also great essays in the CD booklets!!

NOTE: Notes for THE PARALLAX VIEW are awaiting Jeff Eldridge's magic touch and haven't been put up yet - but soon! smile

in case there's anyone who hasnt seen it and thinks we've gone mad, its a sequence from a comedy film called Kentucky fried movie from 1977 where they did a blaxploitation sketch, loosely based on the cleopatra jones/foxy brown mould.

It's on the net at the er...usual place.
