The score has a lot of catchy and memorable themes, and yet a lot of people tend to hate it, and complain about modern film scores having no melody at the same time.

So one has to wonder. I can kinda understand not liking the 'wailing woman' bits, but other than THAT...

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but since you're compiling the statistics, you can chalk me up as another who hated it then and still hates it now...

Nothing much other than that this board is - and has always been - quite anti-Zimmer.

Still like - 4 (5 if Kevin likes it too)
Dislike - 7

There's a pretty sizable Zimmer audience here, but a very vocal anti-Zimmer one. Not liking Gladiator isn't the same as not liking Zimmer. The movie is a bore and the score , for me, especially with the wailing woman, was underwhelming.

But, DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons, two of the best scores in recent years for me, just outstanding stuff

I enjoyed it back then apart from the gerard stuff but when I became exposed to other filmmusic i started to develop a strong dislike for the score in general, especially because it became such a dreary cliche (the weiling woman) and because the action parts got re-used to often. Today, its just not worth my precious listening time anymore, just like the rest of the zimmer stuff that i used to enjoy as "a kid".

I was really surprised by this score. Zimmer had already moved onto his current minimalist standards. This is "classic" Zimmer along the lines of Back Draft. I still listen to this from time to time and it never grows old.

Another vote for enjoying Gladiator. I loved the score when it was released and I still love it now. Barbarian Horde is my favorite track from the album. Don't get me started on the "More Music from Gladiator" release though.

What exactly are you trying to proof or show us with these numbers?

Watching the new blu-ray of Gladiator made me drag out the old cd and I've been listening to it a lot lately. Loved it 10 years ago, love it even more now. "The Battle" is amazing. Huge fan!

That the "dislike" segment will be bigger than the "like" segment.

All the interesting parts of this score are the non-action parts. Patricide might be the best thing Zimmer ever wrote.

"That the "dislike" segment will be bigger than the "like" segment. "

And that serves what purpose?

If you really love this score, you can now buy a double LP edition of Gladiator cut at 45 RPM for a mere $60:

For me Gladiator works well in the movie and as a stand alone experience.

Loved it when I first bought it and still do now, it's a superb album.

The only let down was Vol2.

That was a missed opportunity, why did they have to include dialogue in the previously unreleased tracks?

Well even if that is the case, this is a completely unscientific poll and I hardly think the numbers here can represent the popularity of the score. That said, I don't really care what this "poll" proves, its just fun to read other ppls opinions.

Because they are retarded and don't know their own customer base.

Of course it's unscientific. It's still an interesting poll.

Cool, the pro crowd is closing in.

This score was pretty controversial at the time it was released. People thought it was very much like Zimmer macho music (ala "The Rock", "Crimson Tide") and that was too high for a Roman movie. I believe the score works extremely well because it doesn't make an overuse of that Zimmer's style and pairs too nice with Lisa Gerrard contributions. Also, it has been the most imitated score of last years.

Add another one to "Still like". I found it wonderful then, as I do now. Has several amazing melodies, adagios, headbanging action music and an amazing song. I don't get what there's not to like in here.
