THE FLINT SCORES

Come on Intrada! I predict (well, hope) a December release. And The Great Race, bring it on!

If you mean me, Schiffy, you're right -- I doubt. In fact, I actively debunk!

Think about it -- for your theory to work, you have to believe the following:

1) Word of upcoming soundtrack releases gets leaked to San Francisco, to employees of Lucasfilm and Pixar (etc.). Apparently, soundtrack gossip spreads like wildfire around these companies.

2) Enough employees of these companies are soundtrack collectors who own these scores, and they choose to unload them in large enough numbers to create the pattern that is "used bin tea leaves."

3) Said employees opt to sell not on Amazon Marketplace or on eBay, but in the CD stores Mr. Marshall frequents.

Do I buy it? You know this answer, Mr. Marshall. I do not buy it. Statistically, it's just not possible. In the last few years, I've sold the following CDs (among dozens of others) on Amazon or eBay: "Body Heat," "Predator," "Patton," "Yor: The Hunter from the Future," "Explorers," and a bunch more that I can't recall off the top of my head, all of which were released in deluxe(r) form weeks, months, or a year or so later. But I had no foreknowledge of any of these.

There are a lot of deluxe reissues these days, and naturally many of them are for well-known scores that by definition have a greater market penetration and are thus more likely to show up in used bins. A new used CD/DVD store opened less than a mile from me last year here in Los Angeles. (Imagine that!) I was there about a month ago. I saw three copies of Shaiman's "A Few Good Men" and two copies each of "Walker," "The Sheltering Sky," and "Frida." Are those predictors of anything? I suppose they could be, but I seriously doubt any of those are priorities for any of our labels.

So yes, a skeptic I remain. I would normally shut up about it, but since you called me out…

THE FLINT SCORES
DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE

With the expanded isolated music tracks on the Flint Blu's, I'm fully expecting the remastered & expanded scores to turn up in the next Varese Club batch, maybe each film will get its own CD. It will happen, won't it?
