Thank you Morricone for posting this.
I always wanted to know more from Maestro Morricone's amazing music and I never could manage to listen samples.
My looking for Morricone's music is very easy now !!
Thanks for that wink

We're listening to the Verita Note CD again right now, and simply put, there are no adjectives in the English language that are worthy of describing this masterpiece.

Not to mention a song where Christy is pushed to the point where she's skirting with vocal disaster - but without the risk of the ragged edge, Run Man Run would just be another western song.

And she manages this both in English and Italian...

We are listening to this as I type (AGAIN! Twice this night...) and remarking with re: to Christy's range in unison with the sonatas she compliments. Incredible!

Thanks again, Henry. Nice to be at home with the family and listening to this...can't get much better than that!

Thanks Luigi! You (and even Thor) are why I am doing this series. It is wonderful to remind those who know Morricone about this stuff, but I am trying to get those who have little of his music and feel it would take too long to sift through all this material to even get a sense of what this guy is about.
I hope this series, at the very least, get's people to realize that Ennio Morricone has done a lot more interesting and challenging and, yeah, great work than they ever realized.
And that he has earned his place among film's best composers by doing an extremely wide range of work and more than his share of groundbreaking.

Thank you! Josh and Holly are so cool!
What other family would gather together in the warmth of their home to listen to:

Run like a hare, like a deer, like a rabbit
danger in the air, coming near, you can smell it
and you're panting like a hare, like a deer, like a rabbit
running for the snare until fear was a habit
hurry on and on, hurry on and on, hurry on and on
run and run and run and run and run until you'll know you're free
run to the end of the world
'til you find a place where they'll never, never, never, no never lock you in!

That is the very vinyl album I spoke of with the slightly off-centre spindle hole. And I was STILL impressed! First heard the (instrumental version) theme followed by Western Themes Italian Style, in the 70s. Finally saw the movie for the first time LAST YEAR! Loved it of course.

I had that old Duse import and I thought 5 Man Army was just okay, but the FSM release made me love this score.

the BIG GUNDOWN and FIVE MAN ARMY are some of morricone's great western scores for sure

I hope one day we will be lucky to get a EXPANDED IL GRANDE SILENZIO
a lost gem for sure,

western themes italian style is still a great LP with STEREO NAVAJO JOE tracks

all ways worth checking out and what a cover,

ah the memories of buying that when it came out

FSM's release of Navajo Joe, thankfully, included the Stereo tracks that were included on Western Themes Italian Style, which was previously released as The Best of Ennio Morricone.

Great album, fabulous music, and now thanks to Hillside and FSM, all the stereo tracks from Western Themes Italian Style have finally become available.

Saw a restored version of this film today at the London Film Festival. Stunning and such a wonderful score by Morricone.
