Do you think there will be an expanded edition of Jerry Goldsmith's score for "Deep Rising" on C.D.?

I'd love to see an expanded release. I've said it many time. It's a fun, unpretentious monster flick. Treat William's seems to be having a blast as Finnigan, and Famke Janssen is hot.

The law of diminishing returns for his subsequent films makes Deep Rising Stephen Sommer's best film.

Here's a suite with the end titles.

Maybe Intrada will snag it sooner or later.

The movie and the score are just geared towards fun, being a total blast. The existing DVD is awful, even a no-frills BluRay would be great !

The CD goes by way too fast... more please ?

Absolutely! I'd hop on an expanded version of this one in a second. And speaking of more obscure JG titles that need an expanded release, where's the love for LEVIATHAN? I know it's not everyone's favorite, but I always enjoyed it - played that old cassette tape to death!

I enjoy both Deep Rising and Leviathan. Would buy expanded editions of both. After all, I've bought 3 versions of The Sand Pebbles and 3 or 4 of The Blue Max.

It's Goldsmith so it'll probably happen.

Clearly, there's some love for this score and some antipathy.

But the fact it's Goldsmith will probably swing it.

Cheers

I sure hope so ! There are plenty of kick-ass iterations of the main "Fineggan" theme missing from the album.

Here's a suite with the end titles.

Sad to hear him so far from his brilliant best. Listening to that is as painful to me as it would be to watch the great Rod Laver playing in this year's Wimbledon singles.

Even the best have a right to have fun and enjoy some cheese from time to time.

Re-watched the movie and the score. It sounded as though the album was about 60% of the entire score. Like Congo and Ghost & the Darkness, I imagine an expanded/complete version of DR would flesh out the mediocre 32 min release. The "hero" theme and Famke Jansen's theme get more playtime than the OST.

In my opinion, it will never be among Goldsmith's greats, but it deserves a second chance. Entertaining score to a ridiculous film, Goldsmith's specialty wink

The album was superb. Just played so well. Can't remember any specific missing highlight though. Film was Fab fun as well. Still amazed Goldsmith signed on to this after Leviathan.

Call me crazy but I actually prefer Deep Rising to Planet of the Apes. I never understood why Planet of the Apes score was so "great", I don`t like that score at all but I do LOVE Deep Rising score and I for sure would buy an expanded release.

It will be great to hear the proper main titles, as well as all the other unreleased stuff. It may not be Goldsmiths best, but god I love this score!

Yes finally happening on Intrada Mike. I in particular look forward to the chronological film release. Stephen Sommers movie although not great but not bad either type of a film. I found his trademark style built in laughs quite enjoyable. Goldsmiths score is bombastic action oriented even though its supposed to be off shoot of the ALIEN monster movie. The score also boats an enjoyable dose of electronics -the way I like it. The OOP album while short is in a way bit abrupt so the expansion will greatly improve its presentation. Also I think they brought in Bruce Botnick to do the album mix so that's cool as well. Thanks Intrada.

It is funny how a second-rate Goldsmith such as this can radiate more joyous mischief and personality than a dozen of our contemporary adventure scores.
