What a wonderful thing for Mr. Spielberg to say.

Mr. Garland, would it be possible for you to take a picture of the cover the soundtrack and post it here?

Absolutely Jason. It's very impressive.

Mr Garland, I live in France. Is it possible to hear for the satuday show through the web at a different moment ?

EDIT: OK, found on the site some older shows. Great; I shall be able to listen to them too !

Jason, I should probably let Sony unveil the CD cover when they're ready, but I can tell you that it uses the same image as the film's poster.

It felt like they were going to play the whole album but now only a couple of tracks. Was anyone else under that impression or was I just being a jamook? (Whatever that is)

Can anyone tell me if the horse does make it back to/with his master? With one of the final Williams tracks being "Homecoming", I sure hope so. I'm an animal lover and can't stand the stress of watching the whole movie not knowing whether the horse is going to make it. Thanks!

E-MAIL me and i will tell you
combrm@yahoo.com

I understand your anxiety.
I couldn't relax the first time I screened GRAN TORINO because I was afraid the gang in the film was going to kill his dog - a staple of revenge thrillers. The second time i watched it i enjoyed it that much moresmile

Great cover but the track names are wrong as are the names of the composer(s).

I just posted a quick little sonic preview on the Movies on the Radio show page. Share with me the pleasure of opening up the CD and listening for the first time. Look for "UPDATE: Listen to this five-minute preview" on this page:

OK, I liked the Tintin excerpts but this sounds like vintage John Williams. Classic.

Remember, the track list visible there contains spoilers in tracks 12, 14, and 15!

These samples sound fantastic, especially coming from a man who is considered 'a spent force as a composer' by some people on this board...

As much as I like Tintin, this score is the one I've been looking for even more. What little can be discerned, this doesn't disappoint. I like that he seemed to absorb the English atmosphere so completely with parts of the score anyway. And even the more conventional Hollywood sound seems like it could be moving, particularly in the context of the film I would imagine.

From those samples, Tracks 14, 15 and 16 seems like it will be one 17 minute long lyrical and stupendous poem of a finale. Incredible.

I had WQXR upgrade the audio quality of my archived War Horse premier show. It sounds a lot better now!
