Avout 10 or so years ago, a dollar store near me had a buttload of Varese Cassettes for a buck apiece. I wound up with armloads of tapes which I eventually put to CD-R. Like Psycho II and the two Lionheart volumes. I guess this is VS's way of unloading their overstock or something? Or a distributer had too many boxcars of unpopular music sitting around...

Yeah those hit a number of different dollar store chains and indie stores too. I loaded up on a ton of them. But this is the first time I can recall Varese CD's being dumped like this. Even back in the 80's & 90's it was rare to ever see the CDs in the cut out bins - aside from Raising Arizona, which seemed to be in every cut out bin for awhile I too was able to pick up a load of cassettes at a local dollar store about 10 years ago. Just got back from the Family Dollar in our town (6 blocks away)! No luck, not even one soundtrack!!! So, maybe it is an East Coast thing, even though I am 2 states away, I would have thought a few would have been there!

These most likely ended up in the discount bin because a liquidator purchased the stock from a retailer that's gone out of business recently: either FYE or Borders.

Funny that it's just Varese across the board, though.

That's a great find! It would be hard not to buy a couple of those. Reminds me of a Varese find I did in Germany around 1998. There were literally hundreds and hundreds of ,say, 1987-1991 Varese titles in a huge bin.

1 of 2 stores in NC had the big display, I grabbed a few: I Know Who Killed Me - McNeely Get Smart - Rabin The Kingdom - Elfman Night At The Museum 2 - Silvestri Horton Hears A Who - Powell Land Of The Lost - Giacchino Monster House - Pipes Not bad, of course the cashier thought these were movies.... sigh... Also saw copies of Looney Tunes Back In Action, Aeon Flux, Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee, among the others mentioned above. So, they ARE out there... just hit a few stores. Not likely I'll buy any more today but, will check 2 more area stores this afternoon to see if they have them Where in NC? There are four near me (In Winston-Salem) and I might make the trip to check them out... So far the store in Spencer has them. That's about 25 minutes from Winston if you take the 52 bypass south. Salisbury didn't have any, I'm checking China Grove and Kannapolis later. You're in Winston, neat. Let me know if you can't find any and I can pick some up for you
