I like your 3rd cover best. Nice job.

You will want to keep hold of John Carter's and Dejah's themes from the radio show as these cues do NOT appear in full on the soundtrack. And what everyone has been calling Pursuit Of Dejah is Sab Than Pursues The Princess. smile

you mean the 75 min long album does not include those 2 full-theme renditions? is this like the missing main theme full arrangement from Silvestri's CAPTAIN AMERICA?

Kinda of a cross between Return Of The Jedi and Raiders Of The Lost Ark. With a little bit of Star Trek 09 for good measures. Sounds very promising!

This is the only artwork I can think of when I think of "John Carter of Mars".

That's Tars Tarkas of Tark down there, too.

Frazetta, a childhood god of mine.

Any of you computer geniuses out there make an album cover with that?

Looking forward to the score...nice of them to make it 74 minutes! To echo what others have said, I"m actually dumbfounded how poorly Disney has marketed this.... they are usually a machine in this area. Now, in fairness perhaps the film is really as bad as their posters and previews have made it look. I hope not, but it's hard to comprehend how the Mouse House would be screwing up a good film this badly. frown

Name a Giacchino album under 70 minutes. wink

Plus, in this day of severely reduced reuse fees, it's no longer as surprising to see an hour+ long soundtrack album as it was during the early-mid 90's (when only scored recorded in non-union countries like Europe would get lengthy albums).

Amazon's listing suggests that this is a limited edition disc - anyone know what they mean by this?

Awesome! The samples were terrific and I'm so glad this one isn't getting condemned to a lossy download. Can't wait for the CD. big grin

There are more than you might think..

Lost Season 1 & 2
Medal of Honor: Underground & Airborne
Alias: Season 1 & 2
Mission: Impossible 3
Earth Days
Ratatouille
Land of the Lost
Speed Racer
Jurassic Park: The Lost World Video Game
The Incredibles
Up
Cars 2
Monte Carlo
The Family Stone

But thankfully, the majority of recent releases are stuffed to the gills with Giacchino-y goodness.

I think there are 3 possibilities:

1. Amazon made a mistake
2. Disney is only selling this CD for a limited time, and then will discontinue it. They do this ALL the time with VHS, CDs, and Blu Rays.
3. Because of the HUGE amount of choir in this score, they only negotiated a rate that allows for 10,000 copies to pressed. Once they are all sold, that's it!

Here is the Amazon link to pre-order it on a real, actual, pressed CD:

So glad this is getting a nice, long release by Disney! I see the punny track titles (But no "World's Worst" track) and the last track is probably an epic 9-minute suite. However, the album art is a bit lacking.

John Carter's Theme sounds very John Barry-ish. I like it.

To my knowledge Disney has never released a limited edition CD. They only do that with select films so they can repackage them for resale every seven or so years. Can't see choir rates being an issue either. That's a drop in the bucket for Disney. They can afford it. So that leaves the listing being a mistake. Now watch me be completely wrong!

The original Star Trek album was criminally short! The special edition mostly corrected that mistake, though I wish they'd dished out the extra fees for the choir and kept Chris Tilton's percssion tracks.

I own a limited edition of Disney's "Fantasia 2000" it is numbered XXXX of 10,000. Now there IS a non-limited version, but Disney has released limited editions...

Is that the gorgeous clear poly-vinyl five fold digipack version of the soundtrack?
I have that but the official limit on it was 60,000 copies.
I also have a "limited" pressing of LILO & STITCH that came with a special lithograph cover that had a 30,000 pressing run.

Yes, that is the one. I haven't looked at it in a while, I thought it was 10,000...but you are probably right at 60,000...so not VERY limited!!

I know someone who found an Atlantis The Lost Empire CD with an alternate cover. I think it was a hologram. Wonder if that was a limited edition too?

I have that Atlantis with the Hologram cover and I think it reads limited edition somewhere. Will take a look when I arrive home.
