With all of the wonderful releases this year so far, and even last year and the years previously, I just wanted to take a moment to express some gratitude for it all. These labels really work hard to bring us the releases we want and obsess over. I know we all have our opinions and views on what we wish would be on this CD or that one, or how the box should look or who writes the liner notes, but the important thing is the music. I am so grateful and appreciative to ALL of the labels for making my film music experience an awesome one. As a kid I never wouldve thought that I would have expanded scores of all of these things that I have now, and it just keeps getting better. So with that being said, to all of the labels, and to whomever Ive missed, a big sincere THANK YOU for all of your hard work. I really appreciate it and I just wanted you all to know that. Keep up the good work and please know that there are plenty of people who appreciate what you do, for your work makes a difference in alot of people's lives....mine included.
Great labels, I love them all, thanks everybody for all you've given us over the years. I hope you can continue in your various shapes and forms!

Most of my personal favorite Holy Grails have come from Intrada and La La Land Records.
I didn't get into the scoring game as early as some people, so the longest I've had to wait for a legitimate release of a score has been about twenty-two years, so I know at least what some of the frustration feels like. So, if you haven't been there like me yet, imagine after twenty-two years finally getting "Ghostbusters". The party to thank, Varese.
There are people here who have passed away, never getting some of their grails. So when a label finally gets to it, the appreciation is pretty much a given, unless it's remarkbly shoddy or a bootleg (I won't name anything specifically here, I'm sure some of you know instantly).
The frustration, hurdles, and money they poor into it, combined with their time, is a true sign of labors of love. I think we can all appreciate some of the sacrifices that have been made to bring us these scores, what ever the title be.

For me personally Varèse has been a bit of a downer lately.
However, my appreciate definitely goes towards Film Score Monthly, Intrada and La-La Land. With out these guys a lot of my favorite titles would not have had the complete releases that they do now.
With the three of you (FSM, LLL and Intrada) you've made this film score fan very happy over the last several years. Big kudos and thanks to all of you.
Since you brought a touch of negativity to an otherwise positive thread which pretty much amounts to "what have you done for me lately?" (towards a label that started it all with their CD club in 1981) you might as well focus your observations on the overall pattern of all the labels. That is less and less unreleased scores more expansions and a lot more straight re-releases. Since LaLaLand once stated their goal was for a 5-7 year run before the market dropped out it looks like indications show they were, unfortunately, not that far off. The truth is nothing is selling like it used to and the whole market may follow the Kritzerland model of 1000-1500 pressings for everything. The only thing I will not miss is the fans who will have less and less to gripe about.
Which brings me to a sterling gem of a fan like Superman1701. He is so rare that he should spotlighted. "What!" say the ravening wolves out there "just because he kisses up to the labels!". It is less about kissing up to the labels than having the perspective that this is a finite time and market. What comes out now is crucial because at some point it will stop. I have spent my life seeing many, starting with Tony Thomas, who worked and sacrificed for the love of film scores and none of them, except Varese, got rich from it (and they didn't get super rich). Many lost their shirts, all to the indifference of the so-called fan who simply moved on to be fed elsehere. So for some humble thankfulness to these people, without which many composers great works would remained buried, to be displayed does my heart good. And it is not that praise need be made for every release but to walk into a room where someone wants to discuss a subject and sit down and say "I don't like this subject" is plain boorish. So for a thread like this to exist and a fan like Superman1701 to be around is such a great antidote to it all. Thanks, you are indeed a super man.

I'd like to add my gratitude to all the great labels. We've been spoiled for so long, and I think some of us (myself included) sometimes fall into the trap of taking these things for granted. So - thanks all!
By the way, Clark - I know everything is relative, but can't you order at a reasonable price from within Europe? All my purchases are ordered from European stores, and even with the mark-up, it's pretty reasonable. Mind you, I only order three or four titles every three months or so.

I raise a toast to La La Land, Intrada, Varese, Buysoundtrax, FSM, and Quartet. Thank you for your efforts through the years in releasing the wonderful movie scores we love and cherish so much.

Then I will toast to Kritzerland that has taken up the slack for a whole era that the others seem to be slowly abandoning. And as I said above, who will probably be the model for the whatever and whoever is left when the smoke clears with 1000-1500 units per.
Thank you, Morricone and others who've bothered to mention us. People like "Toby Bixler" just make you want to throw up your hands (no mean feat), but then he's just one guy and doesn't really impact us one way or another. Just a little offensive and obnoxious is all, but what else is new.
Here is a classic Toby Bixler quote: "Golden Age scores, pfft...the more that stay unreleased, the better."
But apparently Toby doesn't like scores like The Missouri Breaks (not Golden Age), Carrie (not Golden Age), Thelma and Louise (REALLY not Golden Age), Audrey Rose (not Golden Age), and many others. It's all good. Keep on keeping on Toby.
