We'll definitely have to meet up Thor, my plane ticket & hotel is booked as well.

So who else is coming?

Very few from here and maintitles (Pawel is obviously coming from the latter).

There's a big group from SST, as you know, but that's about it.

Where's your hotel?

Where's your hotel?

In the center; I first wanted to do a hostel but found a cheap single room here

Cool. Mine is just a little bit outside the centre, but walking distance to it, obviously:

Nice, we'll definitely hang out; only the concerts are held out of town, there's also some meet & greet events in the center (so I've gathered). Not sure what to expect from the city, my first visit to Poland.

Sorry you can't make it Petr, would've been cool to meet up. Aside from Thor and the SST gang, anyone else from this board attending? Adam? Althazan? I presume you are both going?

I'm really 'psyched' for the alien concert (even more so with the Varese dvd out) and I just read on the festival page that they will be projecting H.R. Giger's paintings throughout the concert, love his work.

I'm also looking forward to this academic gathering on the alien scores' sound (lots of similar events throughout the 3 days):

The Biomechanical Symphony – around the cult Alien saga

Creators of Alien were lucky in terms of exquisite orchestrations and distinguishable musical themes and scores of compositions illustrating individual parts of the work today form a canon of classical film music. Compositions of Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Elliot Goldenthal, John Frizzell, and Brian Tylor will be discussed by experts in the field, Elliot Goldenthal, the composer, will be the special guest of this meeting.

Sadly, however, the weather looks like crap during those days. Lots of rain -- all the time!

Hmm... hadn't checked for it yet, not too good a forecast!

Quick summary; the Perfume concert was amazing (spot on), the Kilar concert very diverse (first half his polish works, second his American) and the Alien/Goldenthal concert very generous in music from the movies they selected (I think each movie had about 20 minutes worth aside from Batman which they used to close it).

The Q&A's and press conferences were very fun, with some cool Goldenthal quotes, which I will definitely put into the montage I'll be doing.

Krakow is an amazing place to visit, we lucked out with great weather and it was great to hook up with other fans.

(more to follow)

I'm working on my reports now, including a Goldenthal interview/conversation.

Just want to echo Francis' sentiments for now!

There's a lot to be said about this event.

There was plenty of signature sessions, not just after the Q&A moments, but they even announced you could get things signed during the intermission of the last concert smile. I got Reinhold Heil to sign 'One Hour Photo' and Goldenthal signed my 'Pet Semetary' and 'Interview with the Vampire' scores. Both composers very friendly and open to the crowd.

I've got autographes from Jan A.P. Kaczmarek and Elliot Goldenthal. There has been seen Stanislaw Syrewicz as well.
Dracula performance was really good and powerful. Waiting for the next year!

I'm still working on my footage, here is an official youtube vid from the festival discussing the first day (perfume), I'm sure they'll post more stuff in the next couple of days

Yes, I shot a little bit from the press conference. It will be up in the coming days, and I'll post the links here. Same with my Goldenthal interview (audio only).

Francis shot some video too, and I believe he's going to make a montage of some sort.

Edit: I see that you answered that already, Francis.

OK, here is my coverage of the festival in two parts, one on the concerts and one on the Q&As and stuff.

They're both in Norwegian, but the second part includes two video segments in English, one of which was shot by Francis:

http://montages.no/2012/05/qa-om-alien-og-filmmusikk-samarbeid/

There is one more part to come, the Goldenthal interview, but I'll create a separate thread for that.
