Keep in mind ID4 had about 100 booklets, whereas Starhawk and now Smallville had 200 booklets signed by the composer(s)

Man. Thanks a bunch for getting more covers autographed. I know that I and probably 99 other fans are super-grateful for that. And I seem to remember you mentioning that the X Files box had what, 400 signed covers? You guys (and the composer's tired hand!) go the extra mile for sure.

Holy cats. I ordered 'Shane' yesterday at a couple of minutes after 1:00 pm pst. It's here in my mail at 11:00 am, 125 miles away. Thanks LaLaLand and the United States Postal Service!

I had to input all the track titles into iTunes...it hasn't even been out that long!

"Shane" . Looking forward to listening to it.

Considering the age the clips sound great.

Golden Age Western. I can't decide if High Noon or Shane is my favourite.

Cheers.

Ps. "Body Heat" just arrived in the post. Now we need "Kong". Surely?

'Shane' is an oddball for me. It is unequivocally my favorite western, though I really don't like Alan Ladd in the title role. I would much rather have had Gary Cooper as the laconic drifter, oddly enough. But I also realize the great visual style and cinematic impact Stevens brought to it was working around Ladd's height (or lack of height, really).

Another oddity: I really like Victor Young's score, but I don't like it in the film...except for the Tree Stump sequence, the fugue. I think it's a good western score, but it doesn't quite fit the film for me. Strange, I know. And yet it remains my favorite Western, flaws and all.

I've been listening to the new Shane CD and it has been expertly put together. The sound is rather good and the music wonderful. The Waxman bonus cue is excellent too. Very pleased.

I ordered SHANE on tuesday, got it on thursday, 2,500 miles from LA. Very fast!

I'm greatly enjoying the CD. I've waited 45 years for this! Any Victor Young is most welcomed, and this is one of his best scores. Sound quality is excellent, great to have two "ride to town" and endings. Love the theme for Shane, Jack Palance etc. Also, a big 24 page booklet with lots to read. A must for golden age fans and others too. I hope it sells well.

Thanks MV/LLL - please keep the golden age coming best you can.

Yes, Alan Ladd made a few duds in his day,but when I think of Shane I see ONLY Alan Ladd in the part. It fit him like a glove. If he is to be remembered for one film,it will be SHANE.

Yes, I received my autographed edition Thursday night. Great stuff. There are some tracks missing I would have liked to have heard such as the piano solo from Season 2 Episode 22: Calling- Lana gives Clark a birthday cake. Also, more end credits music from the various seasons (as another member pointed out) would have been great. But overall I'm very happy and grateful for this release. I'm currently figuring out the order of the tracks based on season and episode number because I'm a little obsessive-compulsive in that way, ha ha. Will post later.

I don't know if there are any SMALLVILLE fans here, but I painstakingly sorted the tracks from both CD's by season and episode number. So if you extract both CD's to MP3, you can arrange them, if you like. Also, while doing this, I discovered some mistakes in the liner notes, so I listed the corrections below. Enjoy!

Disc 1

01 Grow Up Superboy (season 1 episode 1)
02 Webmaster (season 1 episode 1)
03 Don't Come Knockin' (season 1 episode 2)
04 The Setup (season 1 episode 10)
05 Mixed Intentions (season 1 episode 10)
06 Teaser (season 1 episode 11)
07 Burn Baby Burn (season 1 episode 21)

In the old days my dad had taped SHANE, which is his favorite western and one of his most beloved movies ever. I remember he would play that cassette quite often -- even during some long car trips on holidays -- and i guess i could actually recite large parts of its dialogue. I was very happy when La-la-land announced this release.

I just received my copy of Shane and it refuses to play on my computer. The TOC information is read, but when I try to play it, the drive spins up and does nothing. It plays fine on my regular stereo.

Has anybody else experienced this issue?

Hi Anabel - Did Pop also listen to the VY Big-Band records too? They used to perform the "Shane Theme" as "The Call of the Far-Away Hills." It pulls at your heart in an American kind-of way.

Anyway, Shane is a great record from La La Land. This is easily one of the great Western scores, and should be on your shelf for sure. I'm working on an analysis of some of the guitar parts, so when (and if) I complete that, I'll post it.

Okay. A couple of things. First - I'm a personal friend of Louis Febre's, and there were many, many Smallville cues going back all the way to Season 1 that he did actually compose but wasn't credited for at the time, with sole credit going to Mark. The liner notes on who composed what are indeed accurate (I know for certain, for example, that he composed the entirety of Lexmas). As to the track list, I'm curious about "The Amulet" and "Clark Tells Lois". If both are from Isis, how can "The Amulet" come AFTER "Clark Tells Lois" considering Clark telling Lois is the last scene in that episode?

EDIT: I've submitted a correction over on chrono-score. There were several things out of place.
