I would want that, absolutely. I'll try to fly down on Wednesday, so I get a couple of days in advance to see the city. And depending on who is in London on Saturday or not, I'll fly there on either Saturday or Sunday.

I am, however, a bit worried that all of these days in Vienna and London will collide with various teaching jobs I'm applying for at the moment. If I'm really unlucky, I will have to fight for Thursday to Tuesday, getting little time for anything else. Worst case scenario, I won't be able to make one of them.

I'm going too, should be great!

Remember to bring your evening attire.

I've already picked out my best pyjamas! (I assume that's what it means.)

2nd concert was just added on October 3rd.

Originally I planned to arrive on Friday around noon, then spent afternoon running around the concert hall, attend the concert and then perhaps we could go somewhere for a little meet up with fellow FSM board members attending the concert... but now... will see...

Anyone considering going to both? It is quite tempting and would double the chances to get "closer" to him ;-)

No, I'm not going to both. The ticket price is insane enough as it is.

I still haven't ordered flights and hotel, but I'll probably arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. It will be weird to hang around Vienna on Thursday night, knowing Horner is playing at the concert hall (and that I won't catch the "premiere" performance), but hey....the more people get to see their hero live, the better.

I would have loved to come and see James Horner. He has a big part in me getting into scores. I would have loved to get my Mighty Joe Young signed. I would have totally considered going to both concerts - at least one. But it looks like I am going to be in Canada from summer to Christmas. So I won't be around that one time that James is doing a concert not far from me. Bummer!

I notice a couple of people have said they are doing both the Elfman and Horner concerts. I'm flying over for the Elfman and would love to get to Vienna for the Horner concert. Can someone who's already figured out how they're managing it help me out? Thank you fellas!

I fly from Norway to Vienna first, stay there a couple of days, attend the Horner concert, stay a little bit more, fly from Vienna to London, attend the Elfman concert, stay for maybe a day, fly back to Norway.

Or did you have something else in mind?

I arrive in London on 29 September, staying a few days, then am thinking will fly to Vienna on the 3 October, attend the concert, then fly to Paris 4 October (which was always my plan), before getting the Eurostar back to London on 6 October. It's a very compact trip to Vienna, but I really just want to see Horner! What's finding accommodation in Vienna been like?

I have no idea. I haven't ordered anything anywhere yet, except the tickets for the concerts.

Airplane, ticket and apartment booked!

I hope we can organize some sort of pre-concert dinner on Friday. And maybe hang out a bit otherwise too?

I'll be arriving on Wednesday (Oct 2) and leaving Saturday (Oct 5).

Wow, a Danger Motif concert? The concert attendees will think it is one big piece with many movements.

Does anyone have some good suggestions for hotels in Vienna?

And are any other Norwegians going? smile

I lived in Vienna for a year in 2011 and regularly attended both the Konzerthaus und Musikverein. They dress up, but very good casual gear or a business suit is fine. The women look disparagingly at other women if they are not adequately dressed - it's quite embarrassing - and I've seen pointing and sniggering. The women do wear nice dresses, stockings, heeled shoes and very good day wear. No evening dress required. But ties and good dresses you would wear for an important daytime lunch would be excellent. They show their respect by being on time, quiet and well dressed.

If your concert is at the Konzerthaus be sure to notice the huge statue of Beethoven in the foyer and the one in bronze over the road and down a bit, in Beethoven Park. It's very moving. (He's my God!!)

I'm JEALOUS - have a wonderful time everybody!
