Thanks for posting this, Francis. I wasn't aware of this film, but I really like the clip from Donaggio's score. Those ghostly female vocals always get under my skin (in a good way). Count me in if it's ever released on CD.

Yes, quite a tempting sample that made me wish for more, too. And those vocals actually remotely reminded me of Schifrin's Dirty Harry vocals.

Thanks for the heads-up, Francis. smile

Sorry to hear about Holly. Well with what I read above, do not know if I will post much here. I guess my posts are not welcome.

My next request is that you stick around Kim! And Holly needs to come back pronto to celebrate this joyous news, though I'm sure a certain mr. Holly will pass along the news. wink

Brilliant Francis! Glad someone else is routing for this one. I wrote to Kritzerland a wee while back after their Pino release in the hope they might consider it. It remains the only score out of Argento's main work that isn't released. Really good stuff from Pino as well. Better than his other Argento score TRAUMA.

I'd have to agree on Trauma. I think out of his collabos with Argento (La Setta, Two Evil Eyes, Trauma, ...) Hitchcock is the most effective and traditional, the others are very synth heavy and ... trippy. smile

Still hungover from yesterday wink

Received Argento's "Giallo" on blu-ray today, I wish Donaggio would have scored this as well.

Really hated GIALLO. The only Argento film i would really struggle sitting through again. Music wasn't that great either although i doubt even Pino could have saved that one.

Great news on "Hitchcock"! "Two Evil Eyes" also deserves a CD release (I believe its only been issued on vinyl).

It isn't his worst effort, but far from what an Argento movie called 'Giallo' should be, at least Non Ho Sonno had that throwback to his giallo movies. And if you couldn't sit through Giallo, be warned about Dracula 3D, it's easily the worst movie he ever directed.

Nah...its personal taste again but i definitely rate DRACULA higher than GIALLO. It had a weird entertaining value for me and I didn't think it was half as bad as was made out to be..just a bit shoddy and a wasted opportunity.Even the music, which i thought was going to be hysterical, actually worked in a weird way. I could see what he was trying to do i just don't think he pulled it off very well. For me GIALLO was just....relentless nasty kack with nothing i could take positive from it. All of these are such a departure from Argento's golden days...its really sad to see.

Yes... his episodes on Masters of Horror to me are the last decent 'movies' he's done, it seems he's been struggling to make a comeback ever since. I wish he would return to directing the dreamlike/nightmarish movies like Suspiria, Phenomena, Inferno, Stendhal Syndrome, ... anything that showcases his unique style of filming, instead of straight to video thrillers.

Quartet is surely one of my fave labels right now while BSX is going down, down, down ....
to the bottom of the list right beside Harkit.
