Just picked this CD up from Dark Delicacies this afternoon and I freakin' LOVE it!!! It makes me smile so huge. It's very synthy but has a ton of hallmarks of the early Paramount scores as well as iterations of later scores. In addition, Manfredini ties it together by rearranging previous motifs and themes and presenting them in a new way, with new stylistic touches (vocals, whispering, deep piano) that elevate this release substantially. He did a hell of a job writing this music and putting together the release. Anyone craving a kickass new Manfredini score for Friday music, who may have been disappointed in Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X, is sure to dig the hell out of this. A lot of this music I found to actually be really scary horror music. What a great Halloween release! Okay, having said all of that, I'm nearing the end of the disc and not one single "ki-ki-ki, ma-ma-ma" or even the modern update that was heard in the Crystal Lake Memories doc...I haven't totally finished the last few tracks but I haven't heard this once! How can this be? Hmmm...if the rest of the music weren't so stellar, this would bring me down even more, but as it is it's just a minor disappointment.

Just picked this CD up from Dark Delicacies this afternoon and I freakin' LOVE it!!! Cool, can't wait to hear it. Is it a pressed CD or a CD-R? Hmmm, what's the best way to determine this? The back of the CD (with the data on it) looks like a normal CD. Believe it or not, I need help with your question to respond. It is in a little very nicely done sleeve, no jewel case. CD artwork is terrific. No liner notes. If the back of the disc is silver, then it's a factory pressed CD; if it's blue, then it's a CD-R (not a factory pressed CD). Just received my shipping notice, so I should have mine in a couple of days. Thanks for the info regarding the sleeve/CD artwork! Well, I held it up next to a factory pressed CD (Cloud Atlas) and even though CLM is a very faint blue, I suppose it is blue, so CD-R.

Well, I held it up next to a factory pressed CD (Cloud Atlas) and even though CLM is a very faint blue, I suppose it is blue, so CD-R. No worries, just received my copy today - currently on track 7 "Real and Unreal" - so far, so great! Totally agree with your review Deputy! Glad you're digging it! So surprised there's not more chatter regarding this release, given how fast and successfully the box set sold out. I guess people are only interested in the nostalgic older orchestrally dominated scores? There are so many great nods and motifs from the early scores, I would really think people would love this and jump on it. To be honest with you, the majority of people who purchased the Friday box set were mainly Horror film freaks and not soundtrack collectors. Its a different animal. Most film score collector's could care less about horror film scores of the 70's, 80s and 90s. It's a niche within a niche. That's one reason why the vinyl market has exploded -- the horror fans just want some cool looking "new" goodies from their favorite films growing up. MV
