IMHO, it is not a tribute to the President at all, but rather to the ensemble itself, for its 250th Anniversary. The Marine Band is nicknamed "The President's Own," whoever happens to be in office. The name dates back to 1801.

Fake news. The title refers to all of the things our highly successful president owns - corporations, real estate, resorts, golf courses, etc.

Here's to John Williams for paying tribute to the President!

Don't know if I'd interpret it as a tribute to the currently sitting president. More a piece designed just for this band.

Even if it was for the president himself (which it isn't), the current president was not president in 2013.

Just what the fake news media wants you to believe. But let's avoid politics. It is a wonderful tribute to our president.

Where's Eric Paddon when you need him?

Not 250th. Cant be. Us 241. 250 eould be 1767 before earliest days of revolution.

Wikipedia link given says band formed 1798.

It's good to read the notes.

This was recorded in 2013, and it was the 2015th anniversary, not the 250th! That's what's said in the video too!

Either that or they're prerecording a helluva time in advance. Maybe they know something we don't .....

Liked it very much, especially the odd rhythmical parts. More an extended orchestral fanfare than a march (which is what I was secretly hoping for).

Heavens, at 3:52 in the video it looked like Jerry or Elmer with their flowing White Hair sitting back there! Or Jerry Van Dyke.

Great video! Thanks for sharing!

And right to the left is Jennifer Williams Gruska, daughter of Mr Williams.

Yes. She's almost always at her father's side in public events -- far more than his own wife. She's the only one of his kids that don't work in music, so I'm sure she gets a thrill out of these events.

When is somebody gonna put all these short Williams' pieces or themes on one CD? I would buy that in a second!

For anyone interested Trans-Pondo, the President's Own are playing a series of concerts across America, where a brass adaptation of the entire 'Theme, Variations, and Finale' of Miklos Rozsa is included.

For details go to the Rozsa Forum and click on the most recent pages of a thread called 'Eight Variations in Eight Days'. The transcriber of the work writes personally on that thread of the concerts.
