David - yes, I knew I was missing one - has to be the album track as opposed to the film track though; Goldsmith did a great adaptation for the vinyl!

Hello folks

Great selection of goodies on offer here!

How about 'Rickard escapes' and 'The trap' from 'The Last Run'.

This score is often overlooked because of the relative obscurity of the film.

Well worth a listen for any of Goldsmith's fans not familiar with it.

Regards

CC

Yikes, nobody mentioned the album version of "Break Out" from Capricorn One!

This one goes without saying...

The album version anyway!

- the fox hunt cue from LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER

- "Allergic Reaction" and "The Tractor" from THE SECRET OF N.I.M.H.

- "Prepare for Battle/Victory for Us" from TIMELINE

- "Without Help" from STAR TREK V

- "The Mirrors" (both versions) from THE SHADOW

- "Go After Him!" from ONE LITTLE INDIAN

And maybe this counts, maybe it doesn't, but..."This is It" from MATINEE

The action cue "Dad" from "Baby".

It's not Goldsmith's most sophisticated project but somehow I love that theme for the adult dinosaurs.

Oh only if Goldsmith were still around to score Pacfic Rim...

Yes it was a composite of two cues from the film but they work really well together. First Blood, in my opinion, is one of the finest action scores ever done. I actually prefer it to Williams' Raiders to be quite honest as it has a lot of variety in it. You have a somber, beautiful theme. You have some eerie and violent dissonant sections when Rambo ambushes the posse. And the action writing is just amazing. I never enjoyed subsequent Rambo scores mostly because I found the orchestra not as "big" sounding and his synths a little too obvious. the synths he used in First Blood were nicely balanced with the orchestra and sparingly used.

Great, now I want to see First Blood tonight!

YOR is "Hot Water", from Outland!

Too bad the entire cue was not used in the movie!

What's yours?

Outland
Total Recall
Star Trek V

I think especially Total Recall defined action music as we know it.
All of it is just exceptional, Jerry was a remarkable action composer.

"What's your favorite action music by Goldsmith?" is the name of the topic, yes?

Not favorites...
