As I said over at Intrada, I'm hopeful some of the Wallace/Smith scores for the animated shorts are visited. After the quality of these recent 40s/50s titles from Kritzerland, as well as the quality (stereo!) and content value of FSM's Tom and Jerry set, I'd love to see what cartoon stuff might be unearthed from those famous vaults.

Agreed, Ron. Such a shame the film is so vilified these days. Those that can look deep enough would find that its core themes underline the value of gaining of self-confidence and perseverance when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and most importantly, the idea that the development of friendships can - and must - transcend race and age. There are probably at least two generations of Disney-DVD owners who have never seen or heard of this film. For many, I presume, it's as if "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" were nothing more that some old Disney song video without any cinematic provenance. What a pity.

Someone at the Intrada forum has suggested the score from Dr Syn alias The Scarecrow (aka The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh) by Gerard Schurmann. I would assume that would include the Terry Gilkyson song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xr_f6nY8ms

Doug, on the Intrada message boards: Yes, a terrific flow of releases is now on the table with Disney and us, but please keep in mind those vaults (which include Disney, Touchstone, Hollywood Pictures and so forth) are pretty deep and have literally thousands of rolls of tape to yield. Searches are underway, elements are being restored, legal terms and artist estate requirements are being scrutinized, dozens of projects are being developed as I write... but it will take time to even begin hitting everyone's personal favorites. And we plan on tackling more of our own favorites as well. We have no plans to end with our beloved Goldsmith's, Horner's, Barry's, Steiner's, Zimmer's, Bernstein's, Jarre's, McNeely's and whatnot. Our ongoing list of names ranges from Oliver Wallace to Ron Goodwin, from Paul J. Smith to Bruce Broughton, from George Bruns to Johnny Mandel, from... well, you get the idea. Hang in there. --Doug http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=65062#p65062 So there you go - upcoming titles from the following composers Jerry Goldsmith James Horner John Barry Max Steiner Hans Zimmer Elmer Bernstein Maurice Jarre Joel McNeely Oliver Wallace Ron Goodwin Paul J Smith Bruce Broughton What Disney titles by these composers do YOU hope they are working on? LLL is plannibg release steiner next year it"s idea: 2014 - year of steiner and jarre
