Relatively sure the runway cue from Last King of Scotland was temped with Trevor Jones. Probably even the You Have The Power cue from Dark City. Obviously, it would have been insane to go to those excesses in this film but still a great dynamic effort from Heffes. His work on The Programme is very good too, again a lot of influences from cello writing in some Jones scores. Is there a link here?
Been listening quite a bit to his recent score for HOPE GAP. The soundtrack is more of an EP, only 15 minutes long, but really breezy and melodic. Kinda THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST-like.
When I saw a young, up-and-coming Heffes live at the WSA some 9-10 years ago, I had no idea what a good composer he was. Since then, I've acquired several of his scores - notably THE FIRST GRADER, EARTH: ONE AMAZING DAY and THE ELEPHANT QUEEN. He seems to deliver the goods pretty consistently.
