Adventures in Babysitting (Kamen) or Summer School (Elfman) for the late 80s teen comedy? I wouldn't mind a Teen Wolf/Teen Wolf Too either! Or Once Bitten!

How would any of those movies qualify as "bittersweet"? And can I just say how lucky US viewers are to get Once Upon A Time and Revenge one after the other? (They're on different channels in the UK and on different nights as well.)

Easily - they are all questionable films.

Throwing my hat into the ring for a guess at the early 90s drama I'm going with David Newman's PARADISE.

James

Paradise is definetely a gorgeous early 90s drama score. And it is rather short (around 30 minutes). So it could easily be coupled with another score.

Revenge?
I can only remember it was an awful movie.

So, I'm listening to ominous main titles right now in YouTube and find them gorgeous!

Read the clue more carefully, it's the score to the current television series not the Tony Scott directed film.

More third rate titles. What a disappointment Intrada has become!

Paradise and Can't Buy Me Love paired together would be a dream!!

And what, pray tell, would constitute second-rate? (Such complaining doesn't merit first-rate.)

Also, Newman's PARADISE would be awesome.

So you already know what the mystery title is going to be enough that you already know it's third rate? Please do share.

I would hope that the two scores are related in some way... either same composer, or the same director, etc. Pairing up two random titles like CAN'T BY ME LOVE and PARADISE - both of which I would happily buy - just seems bizarre to me.

I'm not very familiar with "Revenge" the TV show, but I just watched this short clip on the music/interview and it has me intrigued to listen to this upcoming Intrada release. Sounds pretty good...

I don't know. Did SHERLOCK HOLMES IN NEW YORK and THE PICK-UP ARTIST (same studio aside) have anything in common?

Well, according to the liner notes neither's terribly good. Alternately, both have actors who've played Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr. in the case of the latter)...

Well....they are both written by European composers and both very tuneful?

REVENGE is a great film, one of Tony Scott's best - and a companion piece to MAN ON FIRE. Asshole critics took it down in its day, but it's found a huge audience since. Many prominent filmmakers have talked the film up, including Quentin Tarantino. I just can't let that comment stand, sorry. The film also has a great score by Jack Nitzsche. Unfortunately, Tony Scott messed with his own film many years later, reediting it into a "Director's Cut" and gutting out some of the best scenes and many cues from Nitzsche's score, replacing them with generic Harry Gregson-Williams cues. REVENGE and THE WARRIORS have two of the worst Director's Cuts of all time - and I usually alway default to watching the director's cut of any film.

How about MEN DON'T LEAVE by Thomas Newman for the early 90's drama? Haven't seen the film since it came out but I remember thinking the score was gorgeous.

Roger:
a late 80s bittersweet teen comedy.

When I read that quote my immediate thought was it has to be something by Thomas Newman.

I'd welcome anything by Thomas Newman!
