So far no mention whatsoever of a soundtrack release... either a TD score or even the standard hits release.

Am wading into the game...it starts out with a cutscene featuring a very nice low-key but urgent sequencer cue by TD. It seems that TD has scored the missions featuring Michael, the former gangster in witness protection trying to go straight.

Am hoping some of the huge action missions coming up have some sizzling Tangerine Dream work.. so far so good however

Luckily there's an option to turn the music off.

I have zero interest in the game, but as a TD fan, I'm very interested in the score! Seems like it's a big collaborative effort. Strange that there is no place to hear samples yet...

One of my students was talking about playing this game and I asked him what he thought of the music. His response was, "I always turn the music off while I am playing." Guess I will have to ask someone else.

The new Tang-D score is excellent! It sounds very much like their 80's work. Lots of Thief and 3 o clock high type stuff.
For me, it takes the game to a whole new level. I can't tell you how awesome it is to have just successfully pulled a heist and as I jump on my getaway motorcycle, a brand new Tangerine Dream cue comes blasting through the speakers as I'm being chased through the city at high speed. It's SO much fun.

Everything about the music sounds vintage 80's. From the music itself to the keyboards used.
If they do release a CD, I will buy it in a heartbeat.

Old-school Tang-D fans will definitely be satisfied.

Excellent stuff, FB!

By the way, could you edit the super-long link above a bit? It makes the whole thread scroll horizontally.

Wow. Love it. So nice to hear some new TD without the lifeless dance beats.

There MUST be a soundtrack forthcoming for something like this, right?

I don't see anything on VGMDB but I expect they will release some of the music eventually.

I'd hope so. But the press all seems to point to the song soundtrack streaming on various sites, Spotify, etc...while the score just gets passing mention. Rockstar's own page for the game does feature a music page highlighting the songs AND score... and does say "more to come" . Maybe a score release is in the works... with all the game scores released as CDs or MP3, it is odd that this high profile score has no mention of any release so far...

Attention LaLaLand ? big grin

yeah The Journey played Glass, Steve Roach, TD... I think in the new game he means that Elfman's music is playing as score, not music from a radio station.

I lost interest in the GTA games starting with the fourth one, but I heard some of TD's score earlier while my brother was playing this new one, and it was pretty good. Not that familiar with TD, but I liked it.
