I don't think Horner was replaced from this movie. His name was basically thrown around as a rumor, but it seems they never got past negotiations with him
I see, thanks Danny, yes I was not sure about that, some things I read sounded firm on Horner, others not so much. It would be nice to hear a Horner space score again, I mean, what was the last Horner outer space score? I would not count Avatar really. I think it has been a while right?
What about DEEP IMPACT? Sort of a space movie, there are some scenes in space.
A little bit of space, anyway, I would like him in a full space picture again, like Gravity would be nice, Enders Game would have been a good one or Star Trek, but I hear it swore off Star Trek as being beneath someone of his distinguished stature.

It doesn't quote a source of its own, but I don't think FMR is in the process of spreading wild speculation. If I had to guess, I'd say he was attached but was off the project without writing anything a la Danny Elfman for Hunger Games.

It would be interesting to know what caused the change, but short of the producers talking about it, or Horner, doubt we will ever know. Then later JH's score was replaced on Romeo and Juliet right?

Wrong. The project was even listed on his Gorfane-Schwartz resume/credits for a long while. Horner was definitely attached and may have done work.

Something tells me that Horner doesn't have much to feel sad about considering he's obscenely wealthy.
I was thinking back to the late nineties, early 2000’s when we were promised score after score from Barry, Jarre, Bernstein and they kept coming up rejected rejected rejected. (I’m sure the reality will turn out to be two or three scores in total – it just seems like it was a lot in my memory.)
Barry (for example) was pretty well off, I’d expect. But I can’t imagine he was happy about not seeing any of his scores reach the screen.

yeah i was getting at the artistic disappointment. Wealth is fine, but it does not mean you are happy

The movie has had a very troubled production history, even before filming began. I remember reading that a lot of the post-production crew had been replaced in addition to the composer.
Maybe it is only me, it seems that the training space station looks good, but the alien spacecraft look kinda hokey in terms of effects. I am thinking this puppy is gonna bomb out financially.
Where was this Horner interview that was referenced upthread?
