Someone says this is on Mark Snow's Facebook page (which I cannot find right now):

"Just one more thing before 2012. A very special thanks to the guys over at La-La-Land-Records, for making a dream come true with the "X-Files Volume 1"-Box-Set. And of course a very special thanks to all the fans out there, who were there when the time had come. The first set did well in sales, in fact, of the 3000 units, that were made, there are only 200 units left by now.

So a big THANK YOU to all the fans, who bought the set, it´s because of you that we will see Volume 2 in 2012. And if you didn´t buy it until now, get the last 200 sets before it´s too late. wink"

So if plans don't change for the crew at the Triple L Ranch and we get 4 boxes (1 per quarter), we've got a Friday the 13th box and another X-Files set. What could the other 2 be, I wonder??

I'm hoping for a Tales From The Crypt box set. There's some Silvestri in a vault waiting for a release (the 1992 Big Screen CD had none of this).

Also, Edward Shearmur's score to Demon Knight has never gotten a release (Bordello of Blood has a score release, however).

So if plans don't change for the crew at the Triple L Ranch...

The Triple L Ranch... sounds like a brothel. smile

In any case, I'll be here Tuesday to order Batman Forever and Space: Above and Beyond.

And I'm looking forward to more LLL albums from the Universal vaults.

From Facebook:

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Y'ALL!

Just a reminder that tomorrow, at 1 pm PST we will start taking orders on AND shipping out Batman Forever.

Then, on January 13, comes Jason Vorhees himself -- all 6 discs of him.
...
(Please note there is nothing scheduled for Jan 17 -- Friday the 13th would have been the release but its coming out a few days early. Gee, I wonder why? -- wink )

Our 3rd release of the year (a 3 disc set) will hopefully happen on January 31. The plan is to have LLLCD 1193 in stock then, but it might not make the release date if the cds are not done in time. So, chances are looking slim that we will have anything out on this day. Only time will tell.

February 14 -- if release #193 does not happen for Jan 31, then it will certainly come out for Valentines Day along with, what I hope will be, a great romantic score -- our #199 release -- one of my favs from the 90's - expanded, remastered and sounding more lush and beautiful than ever. Release #198 may also come out on this day as well.

February 28 -- Break out the Cold Duck and order me up a McRib sandwich, 'cus its time to celebrate release #200! This will most likely be partnered with release #191, rounding out La-La Land Records first 200 releases!

Gentlemen, I come to be the bearer of sad news today. While Batman Forever just had a wonderful expansion, another Batman title looks bleak, in that it might not ever see the day. Here is the report from MV himself:

"To address some issues:

1. The * is a publishing situation. We had it on Batman we have it on this. Its an internal, legal thing.

2. Batman and Batman Returns are done to the last 350 units

3. Keaton is the best modern Batman, but Adam West will always BE Batman

4. We are not doing Alien 3. I don't think anyone is.

5. I wouldn't hold my breath for Batman and Robin from any label.

MV"

So there you have it. Looks like B&R ain't happening.

Wow.

Friday the 13th sold out in less than 24 hours. I do believe that sets a records for box sets. Of course, it helped that it had a low run (1300) and was only $70, whereas other box sets reach multiple hundreds of dollars.

Next up, MV says:

"Our planned release for Jan 31 will not be done in time, so that title will now be coming out for Valentine's Day, FEBRUARY 14, along with 1...possibly 2 other titles."

And the always-helpful Jason LeBlanc has put this info together for us on the upcoming LLL titles:

2012-02-14 LLLCD1193 (3CD set)
2012-02-14 LLLCD1199 (90's romantic score [MV said not necessarily a comedy])
2012-02-14 LLLCD1198 (might not be done until 02-28)
2012-02-28 LLLCD1191
2012-02-28 LLLCD1200 (200th release!!)

Any guesses as to the 200th release? Based on their other 'big round number' releases (100th being BSG Season 4 and 150th being Human Target), I'm betting it'll be a Bear score... possibly Caprica? That's my two cents, anyway. Feel free to flail for your most-desired grails... now.

This is how rumours get started! La-La never said "we are not releasing a Barry title this year", nor did they say that the list they posted was a definitive list of all the composers they will be releasing titles for this year. They said it was a list of some of the composers they would be releasing this year. It may well be that they are not releasing a Barry, but the absence of Barry from that list does not necessarily mean that they will not.

To Mark Langdon: I think he knew what MV said and what he means (note the smiley face) and was just poking fun at that. I almost replied myself until I saw his smiley icon.

I didn't see the smiley icon. I was looking at the board in work though, I think they have a programme that eradicates anything hinting at happiness and joy from our computers.

Please LaLaLand, make it happen for 2012 : Mancina's Twister; Zimmer's Crimson Tide, The Peacemaker, Backdraft, Gladiator, Black Rain, K2, King Arthur and Drop Zone; Glennie-Smith's The Rock; Gregson-Williams' The Replacement Killers; Rabin's Armageddon and Enemy of The State....

But if there is only one to pick, then I opt for Twister unequivocally.

Why not a Double Disc "ala Golden Child & Breakdown" with both the original and rejected score for the Rowdy Herrington 1992 boxing flick GLADIATOR.

Both Brad Fiedel's cool score and Jerry Goldsmith's rejected one.

Fiedel's score has that great T2 vibe.
