One month later, another bump.

I still haven't found a proper location, but I'm working on it.

I've been thinking of tripping to NYC for several months now.

Do you think if I pitch a small one man tent on the side of a skyscraper anyone would notice?

That will be ok, as long as when you go to bed you don't kick your shoes off and hit somebody on the head on the street below.

Thor,

I'd like to recommend Heartwood in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. My cousin's daughter works there as a bartender and their food is pretty good.

Thanks for the recommendation, James. It doesn't seem to have a site yet; where I can peruse menus, table availability etc.

Thor, it's a new restaurant and the website is not up, although the previous link has photos of the interior and a pdf of the menu. Here it is: Plus they have a large beer selection which I know is high on your list: http://images.nymag.com/images/2/daily/2014/04/heartwood-menu.pdf

Thanks. You wouldn't happen to have an e-mail address too, incidentally?

I'm still hoping for a table at the outdoors patio at the Chelsea Brewing Company, but I've received no reply as of yet.

An outdoor patio in the back is great, but I would never sit in the front of any restaurant in NYC simply because of the street and pedestrian traffic.

My email address: japhillips219@msn.com

I am going to have dinner this Saturday evening at Heartland and will send you their contact information. Maybe we can get Elliot Goldenthal to join us smile

All the best.

The patio at CBC is faced at the Hudson river, but I agree -- if it's outdoors, it needs to be in the back.

Well, the Chelsea Brewing Company has apparently closed their Pier 59 location, as they're moving to Brooklyn. So that's out. Great if you can come back to me for a report and maybe some contact info for Heartwood, James. Otherwise, I have a couple of other alternatives plotted down.

Why not a distinguished landmark, such as the Empire State, or possibly even 500 Fifth Avenue? When in Rome . . . ?

THERE WAS[It might be still there], a really nice riverfront restaurant off of the EAST RIVER, where a company i worked for in the turn of the century had gatherings and meeting. It was around EAST 29TH OR EAST 30TH STREET, JUST BEHIND THE HELIPORT[where helicopters took off every day]great place to hang out on a summer's eve. Also there is Vito's hideaway which is definitely in the back and is truly a hideaway but if something comes down ,well then you might not be heard of again, but for some members on this board that might be good for humanity?

I've added a deadline for this event. Please sign up before May 9th (that's one week from now) if you want in. After that, I'll book a place with the number of people signed up.

I'm confused. Is the date set at Wed. June 4th? Subsequent posts seem indeterminate.

Yes, the date is set at June 4th. The ensuing discussion of dates in the beginning of the thread was conducted when the time wasn't set yet. The first post has since been edited with the set date of June 4th.

The only thing that isn't set yet is the restaurant.
