I'm quite glad from what I heard on the stream today. Plenty of delicious themes to go around.

Yay that the interviewer interviewed him, and that it was broadcast, but she did seem a bit clueless.

Did anyone notice that this is a total ripoff the HULU series "Quick Draw"?

Well, FilmMusicReporter is reporting that Giacchino said he's scoring "Inside Out", so cross that little bit of good news off the McNeely list.

I've been reading the novel and it's pretty funny (and hilariously crude in some parts). Since the novel is based on the screenplay, I expect the movie to be more or less the same but don't plan on seeing it in the theater unless I get free passes (in other words, ain't gonna happen).

I've high hopes for the score based on the comments in this thread, but I refuse to listen to the samples so's I can give it a proper virgin spin when the CD arrives.

I've been listening to this on Spotify today as I anxiously wait for my copy in the mail to arrive and this score is great! McNeely once again doesn't disappoint and delivers a great western score in the classic tradition of Elmer Bernstein. This is a great listen. I'm not a Seth McFarlane fan and don't have any desire to see this movie, but I do appreciate his love for film music and the excellent choices he makes in composers. Fans of McNeely's work will be loving this. Highly recommended!

Holy god, has this movie bombed in every possible fashion. After Ted, I was expecting quite the opposite.

I think the writing was on the wall when the ads switch from promoting the movie's jokes to promoting its connection to Ted.

I'm a little surprised that it did so bad in the opening weekend but it seems the trailers didn't excite very many people and then word got out how disappointing it was. I might have walked out if I wasn't enjoying the score.

I really don't know what everybody is complaining about with this film and it's comedy. I saw it last week, and absolutely loved it. I thought it was hilarious! But then again, I've always thought that Seth McFarlane's comedy was pretty hilarious. I like Family Guy and American Dad, and I loved Ted.

Haven't seen the movie yet but I have no reservations whatsoever about the score--it's McNeely getting his shot and walloping it over the fence. This is a bracing blast from the past that is pure exhilaration, showing what a talented person can do when not weighed down by temps, not having to mock everything up for "the commitee," and not being ordered to avoid themes.

Perhaps not quite in the league of Broughton's SILVERADO and TOMBSTONE, westerns more serious in tone, it's certainly one of the best western scores since those halcyon days. I hope McNeely gets a lot of work off this one (although I doubt he'll ever get the freedom he got from McFarland.)

Exactly right, tuneful and exhilarating and a perfect fit for the film as well as a good listen. Actually worked better than the film did, IMO. I don't mind some off-color stuff, but this was so self-consciously obscene and intentionally gross-out that it was a less-satisfying comedy (for me) than it might have been had McFarlane taken his foot off the pedal just a bit. A tip of the hat to McNeely for a job well done, anyway.
