What a hideous cover!

I actually really like it - moreso than the previous TLK releases, and better than just slapping the poster or some key art onto the cover. It reminds me of Intrada's "Up" release - more original artwork for albums, please!

What a hideous cover!

I would say it's an early preproduction color story sketch made while in development. Guess they felt it makes the package artsy.

According to the release, it's original art, and there will be more like it:

"Each album will feature newly created artwork from Lorelay Bove, a visual development artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The illustrations, inspired by the original properties, will celebrate Disney’s rich heritage and create a unified look for the entire collection."

Odd that they would simply retitle the LION KING tracks that appeared on the album, no? Unless the tracks on the album were reworks for the album (Zimmer does this a lot but honestly I don't remember if that was the case with TLK) and the legacy edition will include only film tracks.

Ah, I stand corrected!

THE LION KING - a rare instance where I actually think an expansion is tantalizing.

I think most animated Disney scores could benefit from an expansion, especially the Menken scores and Mulan since many of the best cues weren't even included. I've always disliked Disney's album organization with songs first and score second, but I understand why they did that way. Seems like they'll be putting the tracks in the chronological order for these new releases. smile I only wish instrumentals were included, but I'm not complaining.

Not that I'm offended or anything, lol, but doesn't people read (at least fast) through the previous posts ?! wink

But, again, yes, the album score tracks were mostly edits from the original cues (different pieces from different cues put together). And I assume on this new version it'll be more or less the cues in their original form, at least judging by the tracklist. But since there's no tracklengths so far, there might be some kind of edits or whatever for all we know though...

Always been a childhood favorite and the soundtrack album definitely left me wanting more; I'm probably in the minority of not caring for the Disney songs, just the score please. smile

How about a 54th Anniversary release of William Alwyn’s complete score for "Swiss Family Robinson” ?

This beautiful score is one of my Holy Grails.

Pretty Please !

Again, I believe Intrada would be the ones to do this.

HELL YES to Swiss Family Robinson. I'd also love some Clifton Parker (Treasure Island and Robin Hood in particular) as well as Darby O'Gill by Oliver Wallace.

Lifting my jaw up off the floor before somebody trips over it.

Among the past score releases of the classics, Cinderella is the one in particular that seemed to be missing some of the score last go-round.

Did someone hack Thor's account? razz

Don't get too excited... If I remember correctly, Thor said the same thing on Temple Of Doom but, after it was released, insisted that the album was better...

I'm a big Disney fan and this sounds like an exciting series.
some quick thoughts - odd that Snow White and Bambi are not included.
I hope that Lady and the Tramp is full stereo as the last cd was mono.
I wish Disney would release a complete Third Man on the Mountain, Summer magic, a remastered One and Only Family Band. the original LP had misdone stereo where right is on the right, middle in the middle and the left channel also mixed into the middle. There were also three songs recorded, filmed and cut from the movie. I would love to hear them.
