Ok guys, if you want to pay once again for the deluxe edition of a score (you already paid for the first edition) and the announcement claims that it's complete and when you play it, discover that it is not what you expected to hear (different from what you heard in the movie), it's ok.

By the way, the most embarrassing thing Varese did was "Chinatown" as a Club release with the same contents as a regular release.

I must be missing something, where in the description above that I posted does it state it's complete? Maybe my eyesight is failing me which I may need glasses. Thanks smile

"Total Recall", "The Sand Pebbles", "The 'burbs", "Justine"... are deluxe edition which are complete (or close to). When I see that Varese is releasing an expanded score in 2 cds full of music in their deluxe edition, it makes me think that it's already complete.

(I don't need releases to be completed. What I want it's to appreciate the music I heard on the movie).

Actually, no I didn't. As with the first movie, I found myself not getting it at once (and as with the first movie I'm glad I waited).

Thanks for proving my point. I'm outtie, it's getting late and arguing with somebody who seems to be trolling for the heck of it is getting old.

I just put Juanki on ignore, what a troll.

I didn't troll anyone.
I miss the Varese of the old days and explain reasons on why I don't feel confortable with their latest.
It's just my opinion on a soundtrack forum. Do whatever you want.

Okay, I couldn't resist...you got what you wanted yet you are raining on other fan's happiness for this getting released. Do you not see?

With all due respect, they gave you what you wanted and you still aren't happy. Some of us are happy with it.

The fact we have different points of view, means there is a discussion. There is no trolling here. So please, don't be rude because I wasn't.

We all have our differing opinions and that is great, how we express those opinions is another matter. Keep in mind folks who work at Varèse do read this board and/or post on it so saying or even hinting at that they tricked or deceived or PURPOSELY deceived folks can actually hurt someones feelings. I know the people at Varèse and have met them all and they are NOTHING like that. You want more choir on scores, contact SAG AFTRA and get them to chance their rules so that it's affordable! This is a forum dedicated to what we all LOVE and that should be the cornerstone of all of this. Love of film music. Let's always be civil to each other on here. smile

I appreciate you drivingmissdaisy so I hope you didn't feel hurt by my words. But keep in mind that you have to accept them as a review coming from a Varese customer. Best wink

Appreciate the note! I only wish it was more feasible to include the choir in some scores like Trek. Fingers crossed that union lowers that rate like the AFM did!

Now back to the music. After hearing the samples so far my favorites are Trek and No God.

I did not expect anything to be to my liking, but I really like the samples for No God, No Master. It is a very nice discovery.

I'll be up for STAR TREK INTO DARKNES (I passed on the regular release in the hopes of an expanded one), the rest aren't really my thing. Shame about the issues with the choir but I understand it.

What's interesting is that every cue (and a couple are joined together) is included on the expanded Into Darkness release except one, the cue where the two Spocks are talking. It's not especially a highlight (and honestly, most of the unreleased material of this score isn't remarkable) but it's odd they'd release everything else.

I wonder how fast this Trek will sell out. A year ago I would've bought this day one, but my finances are not what they used to be & I live overseas so this will set me back about $40. Listening to the single disc now to see how it compares with the samples of the newly released tracks on varese's site. I may answer my own questions, but hoping to hear some opinions on the new release before it sells out. Sometimes it's the Goldilox syndrome with these 2cd expanded releases. Often the single disc leaves out some good material, but the 2cd versions can sometimes outstay their welcome by including too much and wind up being a less satisfying listen. It's tricky and subjective finding that right balance in an expanded release. (Of course I, like many collectors, also get that completest curiosity). PS, I will probably crack and buy this before anyone has it in their hands anyway.

Once again, nothing here of interest to me. No golden or silver age etc. I've about given up on Varese. I know Varese is a business and has to issue what will sell the best. Glad some others are happy though. Oh well, maybe next time .........

Yes, no interest for me either. I have decided to pass on ST since I have the regular release. You say they have to release things that sell fast? Will the other 3 releases sell fast? I have never heard of them. Let us just watch how fast they sell.

I don't understand "I've given up on Varese" comments. So if down the line they do release stuff you like you won't buy it to punish them for making you wait so long? Or you're just never going to bother checking their announcements again?

To be fair, only one of these titles is "CD Club" branded. And it's a Trek title - which is big news. The others are in their "obscure" limited edition line. And they are. Don't know why this is disappointing.

I wonder how fast this Trek will sell out.

It's a 6000 unit release, so I would hope it'll stick around for a little while.

I wonder how fast this Trek will sell out.

I didn't think the first one would sell as fast as it did and considering Into Darkness is the better score, I assume it will sell out as quickly or quickly as the previous entry. Crazy Giacchino fans!
