Sounds quite like John Addison to me... Strange Invaders?
That was released on Intrada many moons ago...and I am truly gutted it's not Richard Band. It sounds so like him.
I'm just gonna throw out a name and whether or not it's him, that there is such a dearth of his music on CD is unconscionable:
Arthur B. Rubinstein
I really don't hear Band in this, and I'm a huge huge fan of his orchestral works (when he's not aping Hermann or Goldsmith). Which score specifically does this sound like to you?
Oh no! When the title and composer is announced, we have the 'source used' shenanigans to wade through then.
I'm sure the label will be equally helpful in providing that info as well. I predict the CD will have a solid black insert. No distractingly informative text to mar the wonderfully vast emptiness.

From about the ten-second mark on, I hear the sweeping strings of GHOULIES/TROLL.

Again, gutted.
I thought of Troll as well when I heard it. Then Ford said it wasn't Band. I've never been any good at these guessing games, but I still love reading everybody's guesses.
From that Wiki link moolik posted of all the 1980's scifi flicks, one that jumped out at me that Id never heard of before was "Brain Waves". It stood out because it has a score by Robert O. Ragland and he certainly has the chops to pen the music from that sample.
