How's Leo doin?

I hope Lavagnino didn't get sidetracked by your recent plunge into Trovajoli. smile

FYI, there's some used CDs of Lavagnino music @ Dusty Groove.

If you haven't already gotten L'Uomo dalla Pistola D'Oro, Oggi A Me ... Domani A Te!, Falstaff or La Battaglia dell'Ultimo Panzer, you might be interested in these.

As fer me, I'm waiting for copies of Sapevano Solo Uccidere to arrive in the States.

I'll die for some track samples. Life is cheap.

I would call it a moody "western", more typical of the Lavagnino style than other more upbeat spaghetti westerns. The main theme is quite lovely, but most of the CD is a mix of ambient tracks and some saloon or mexican music.

Hi Zardoz thanks for askin'

I now have all the above you mentioned and they are absolutely superb !
I found 'Sapeyano solo uccidere' to be slightly heavy going....as 'slint' mentioned in his previous post a 'moody' Western score.

Leo.

Hey Leo!

I got my CD on The Wonders of Aladdin days ago - and I've been listening to it each day since.

A most satisfying album, IMO.

I get a sense that you are more into the late-'60s/early-'70s Italian scores, but if you give this 1961 orchestral soundtrack the benefit of the doubt then I expect you'll like it too.
WOA has lots of percussion and most tracks are written in Arabic idioms.

WOA is in genuine and superb stereo, and I've been wondering (as I listen to it) why a recording such as this was never issued onto LP during the early '60s? VeeJay records, instead of offering us a lamentable version of Alakazam the Great, would be regarded more highly by me if they issued Lavagnino's The Wonders of Aladdin.

Has Leo abandoned the Italians?

Hey, Leo.

If you don't already have Historia de una chica sola (La cena), then be advised that Quartet Records has this title back in its stocks!

Hi Zardoz,
Yes, I bought this CD a couple of years ago, a very beautiful and melodic score.
Great to hear from you again !

Leo.

Hurry, Leo, Hurry (and anybody else interested).

SAE is having a 50% off sale on selected European CDs (mostly labels under the Intermezzo music group such as "Cometa").

If Leo or any FSMer is on the fence about early Lavagnino film music, here's an ideal chance to nab a copy of Jovanka e le Altre (Martin Ritt's 5 Branded Women) on Cometa CD.

I also recommend these other titles, too:

Rhythms in Suspense (Marinuzzi jr.)
Servizio dall'Oriente (Marinuzzi jr.)
10 Bianchi Uccisi da un Piccolo Indiano (Umiliani)
I Futuribili (Macchi)

Hi Zardoz,
Those 'Cometa' releases are getting increasingly difficult to find.
I already have the Umiliani Score which is absolutely superb !
I shall certainly be investigating the other titles you mentioned.
Thank you for the "heads up" as always.

Happy collecting !
Leo.

JOVANKA sounds just like Othello. Really a great pick! If you can get it.

If Leo Nicols never got himself an edition of Lavagnino's Kali Yug, then now is time for some serious consideration:

a 2-CD expansion on Kali Yug via Quartet Records

https://www.quartetrecords.com/product/kali-yug-la-dea-della-vendetta-il-mistero-del-tempio-indiano-2-cd/

I would have expected something like this to surface from Digitmovies.
Digitmovies offers us 2-CD versions of Venere Imperiale and La maja desnuda and this item would be a natural continuation in their Lavagnino sequence.
I could imagine Godwin Borg doing Kali Yug, too, in his Kronos Gold Collection … but Quartet got the 'bid'.

Hey, Leo.

If you haven't already gotten this Lavagnino, now's a good time to consider I fratelli corsi because SAE is offering 50% off Kronos titles.

Of the 3 (so far) Lavagninos in the Kron Gold collection, I like this one the most.
