Hm, which one is this?
Is it the same as "Sleeper Suite"?

Yes.

Aha! Yeah that's a good one too!

In anticipation for the new soundtrack, I have been rewatching some episodes and there were some cues I didn't even realize I was missing in my life. So I really hope they are going to be included.

One of them is the music in this beautiful scene from Anne, in season 3:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdih0m1Mjhc

And from Beauty and the Beast, also season 3:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UCHFImNmM4

Also, I didn't find it on Youtube, but there is this incredibly great suspense score at the beginning of Becoming Part 2, when Buffy is found in the library after Kendra's death and is forced to run from the police.

I really forgot that there are so many beautiful pieces of music by Chris Beck, which have not been released yet. I was so focused on the Wanker stuff finally being released that I forgot what a genius Beck was.

Really looking forward to the end of the year, when La La Land will hopefully finally have released it.

Yes! All these scenes has great score!
I cant express enough what a great job Beck did with season 2- 4.
He really made some great themes throughout the seasons.

And I dont understand why he dont make score like this anymore...!

Are you mis-remembering and thinking of the fight cue that ends with Buffy running to the library?

Nope, because that cue was also released on the last soundtrack. It was one of the best of the show too.

I meant the score that you can hear in this trailer at 00:10:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic-rPJWkGt0

There was a variation of it at the beginning of Becoming Part 2.

I CANNOT wait for this release. I am so excited.

Me too. This will rank up there with the Lethal Weapon and Friday the 13th boxsets for me as my most highly anticipated and long awaited dream collection come true.

Been dreaming of a set like this since I first started to take an interest in score music.

So today it was confirmed for a January 23 release frown

Is it okay to post GIFs in here??

EDIT: I'm the OP and I say YES! razz

How I felt today as soon as I saw that Titanic was more important to release than Buffy (I will never watch that movie again now):

Okay...I love Buffy (I love ANGEL much, much more but I digress) but come on.

Did you remember WHY the Buffy set was delayed? It was NOT because of Titanic and you know that. One has absolutely NOTHING to do with the other by any stretch of the imagination.

But hey, any excuse to crap on it, right?

You're really not doing yourself any favors but whatever floats your boat....Pun intended.

Oh Jeez! You clearly didn't understand that that was a joke!
Do you also think I blame the ice berg for ruining my life? big grin

Yes, I know that they decided to delay the release because they wanted to make sure to have the best presentation of the score.

So, while we're waiting.

What is the top 3 cues you hope will be included in the box set?

 Posted:   Nov 27, 2017 - 10:38 PM

In no special order:

1. The full finale cue from the series finale, "Chosen" (titled Chosen on his site), by Duncan. Yes, we got the cue on his website, but it was in low quality. And the commercial song CD that included it, included a short edit. To finally have the whole thing in glorious sound, makes it a Top 3 cue.

2. Any random cue from my list of Waker stuff elsewhere in the thread, because there has simply never been a single bit available -- not even a promo.

I'd have to think about the third.

My top choices would be Wanker cues, again mainly because they have never been released before. With Beck we at least got cues on various promo and commercial CDs, even though some were edited.

First would be the "Into The Woods" ending cue with Buffy/Riley and Xander/Anya. One of the best!

The other cues I would love to see are the couple of recurring themes used throughout S5. There is a great cue from the "Fool For Love" Buffy/Spike porch scene that is used in other episodes like "Buffy vs. Dracula" as well. There is a excellently moody cue that is used when April dies in "I Was Made To Love You" that appears in some other episodes. These themes also show up in some form or another in S6. I can't forget the great theme that appears throughout "Forever" either.

I'm just so excited for this box set! I can't believe it's actually happening.

I know exactly what cue you're referring to from that porch scene and Buffy vs Dracula!
It's short and simple, but still very beautiful! Would love to have this in the box set!
Actually all of the stuff you mentioned should be included! Along with the cue from Shadow and Tough Love (after Willow and Tara fight). And of course the Xander/Willow scene from Grave.

I'm mostly a sucker for Beck's score on this show and hope that most of it will be from him, but I also hope they give us at least something from Wanker. Doesn't have to be too much, but from the most "iconic" scenes/themes he created.

As for my top 3....it's too hard for me. Dont even know why I asked that! haha! big grin

I agree that Beck should be most represented on the set. He did the most and best music for the show. And from a commercial perspective he is the most known and successful of the Buffy composers outside of the show. Prolific hollywood woodwind player Chris Bleth is also featured throughout Beck's Buffy music like on the epic "Magic Snow Music"

Hopefully that cue isn't edited down like it was on the Rounder Records score CD.

Hell, I hope none of the cues are cut up.

So, while we're waiting.

What is the top 3 cues you hope will be included in the box set?

I love Christophe Beck's music, but I am mostly interested in the music by the composers that hasn't been released or been on the promo CD that got leaked onto the internet at some point.

From the first season score by Walter Murphy, I really only want the last instrumental piece from that season, when he incorporates the theme song by Nerf Herder into the score (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y14W4DijikA) . The other stuff from that season I just don't find that memorable. Though, since it's supposed to be an all-seasons set, I imagine there will be more than just one cue by him.

From the second season composers other than Beck, I'd like to have the music by Clement and Murray, which wasn't that bad either.

From the Thomas Wanker seasons I definitely want "Run" (https://youtu.be/2CwKJ5rKR80) from the episode in which Riley leaves, because it's just such a beautiful haunting piece. The score from the episode "The Shadow" (https://youtu.be/jXrFXNhD1aE) is also one that I really want to have.

My TOP 1 cue that is the most important for me is his cue from "Forever" when Dawn and Buffy fight (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpxJZidEAQw). If the set includes that cue, I am already satisfied. And then there is this beautiful haunting cue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqQQzd0BhIA) that was played during "Weight of the World" in season five and during Anya's vows in season six.

As for Rob Duncan, his final episode cues are probably the most important.

When it comes to Chris Beck, I hope for more of his "Restless" cues, because that's one of my favorite episodes and the music in it was spectacular. Generally, any cues that were used for dream sequences (like Little Miss Muffet), because Buffy did them so well. Also, pretty much anything from "Becoming" and "Passion".

Oh and let's not forget "I'll be Mrs.", sung by Emma Caulfield in "Selfless". That's not score, but it's a must-have bonus track.

One of the things that I am really curious about is how La La Land actually works on television soundtracks, how they pick the cues for the albums, like do they watch all the episodes and pick the most memorable, do they work with the composers and ask them which cues are the most significant to release, do they look in online forums? I find that fairly interesting, because when it comes to TV shows there is so much music to choose from than there is for just a movie soundtrack CD. How do these albums come together? So I cannot wait to ask MV that once the Buffy set comes out.

I would guess the label/producers would obviously have SOME input into the track selections, but the ultimate decisions would come down to the composers themselves and if the tracks are available/negotiable/affordable. Things probably get even tougher if it's a song or the score use of a song melody.

I have always wondered that myself! How do they create this and how do they choose the cues?
Are they sent absolutely all score files and then sit down and watch all the episodes and then choose the cues?
Cause it that`s the case, I might have to break in to LLLands offices  haha!

And like ZerOne wrote, that season 1 cue you mention is the only one I find interesting from the first season as well.

And like you also wrote, I too hope they dont concentrate too/waste too much space for score that as already been released. Or even leaked. Cause we already have these. And would much rather get my hands on score which has never ever been available before.

And yes! Restless is my favorite scored episode from the show. Would love a complete score for that one!
And I really hope they include the REAL "Body Painting". The track called "Body Painting" on that Rounder Records score cd (which was such a half-arsed release, btw!) is actually NOT from the body paint scene...!
It`s from Giles` dream!

I wonder when we`ll get some more info. Hope they`ll tease us like crazies! big grin haha!
