When I first glimpsed the ad (nine years ago?), I was sad at first, cos I thought he was born late Septober and died early Octember!!
And that's NO LIFE at all man! Too soon!! frown

Yes, but his Score Mixing Seminar ad will live forever.

You know what's humorous? Even though we've been talking about this for almost four days, even as I posted in this thread, that ad is there still.

Talk about getting your monies worth.

well, the only replacement ad offered Pukas* was for Tall Guy's seminar :Life insurance and and society
bruce

*that's a joke in case the newbies don't get it

I was suspicious at the start when I read it was being held in France.

I guess Moscow hotels were all booked up.

I was going to start the same thread as Phelps long ago.
But I erred on the side of caution.
Disrespecting a film score legend is bad enuf ,but one that PAYS money to this board is grounds for banishment.
So, i thought

The last seminar I held for clients was about the Solicitors Regulation Authority consultation on changes to the minimum terms and conditions of Solicitors’ Professional Indemnity Insurance. I was hilariously scathing. I don’t deal in life insurance so don’t ask me smile

Could Alan be related to Edward James Olmos in any way?
There's more than a passing resemblance to my eyes.
It's too bad she won't mix, but then again, who does?

Its true, kev, he does indeed look a little Olmos-like. Not a twin but Cousins maybe?

Do you wonder if this thread shouldnt have been on the other side?

Its too irreverent for Gen disc.

Nfsd fsmers are the only ones posting here. Its an infiltration! wink

No Bill, I feel this thread belongs in the film score discussion. The ad is still atop the board as of this writing. It's amusing that said ad remains blinking atop the olde boarde masthead like a glittering beacon of film-score-mixing hope, long after the seminar itself has been flushed from the bowels of memory. This of course leaves the ad open to some rather amusing comments. However, I am legitimately interested in knowing if any FSMers attended and the feelngs they encountered in what was no doubt a profound experience.

Between you and me jim - i dont want to start a panic so keep it between us for now - i have my suspicions that no one actually went to this event.
Nor have i seen any evidence that the event even took place.
Its possible, of course, that the dates on the advert were incorrect?
And that this great adventure film mixing history is yet to happen.
Equally it is possible that Mist-er Mey-er-son took a peak out the curtains on the big night, caught a glimpse of his peculiar-looking audience and cancelled the thing there and then? I mean, its possible.

"I am usually referred to as The Master."

I reserve the title "master" for a select few, such as, for example, Fabio.

Ah Fabio! How is Rome?

Can anyone confirm that the next score mixing seminar will be held in Rome? I've heard rumblings...

...and speaking of things eternal, how long will the Rome score mixing seminar be atop the olde FSM masthead, and will the ongoing France score mixing seminar ad be shrunk in size to accomodate the Roman upstart?

I take it you're not a Doctor Who fan (1970s edition, not that touchy feely "NuWho" garbage).

Rome was being mooted as the next venue. The Vatican, no less.
But those instrument fiddling (kiddie?) Nero types said 'we don't MIX with your sort'.
Their loss.

"It’s not about the equipment, but about what you do with it. We all use the same tools. Instead your job is to find an emotional connection with the song, and trust your own feelings. When you do, other people will get it too."

It's a funny thing though.

Although I know who Meyerson is (and he's talented: the mixer is not the genre) I just never look at advertising banners ... Ever! You might think I would, since I've worked on hundreds of ads, but I don't. That's why I resent Google's evil linking of everything to its accounts. I virtually lost a YouTube channel because of that, because it wasn't synched to their address. The excuse was to 'target ads more helpfully', and they seem to think that the whole world wants targeted by ads. Patronising or what? We all know what they really want. I gave up watching TV channels that have ads, because it's infuriating to watch.

So even though that banner's been there, I had to check: I didn't know what the thread is about. Maybe it does its work subliminally.

But seriously folks, the Meyerson ad will have been paid for, and must run its bought slot. Lukas & Co. have lives to lead.

But y'know, I think a lot of people underestimate mixers. I've done a bit, but I'd never think I know anything about it beyond feel. And there are folk out there who are beginners too and need the basics.

Meyerson-related content in bold.

As you say ...fixed that for you. wink

If an Alan Meyerson Score Mixing Seminar takes place in the middle of a forest, but no one's there to attend it, does it make a sound?
