Question for those who have received their copy, does this set include the album version of the Prologue (start at 1:55):
Or the Film Version (start at 1:46)?

I don't hear the difference. confused

I was referring to the narration, not the music.

“And earn THEIR love in return by the time the last petal fell...”

Vs

“And earn HER love in return by the time the last. petal. fell...”

The way he says this portion in the album version differs from the film version. The album version always sounded weird to me.

Ah, thanks. Never noticed the difference in the narration before.

Still has that dialogue in that cue and those alternates aren't there so you have to seek out the other release if you want them (or keep it if you already have it)? Pass.

I AM DISAPPOINT

So what exactly is the story regarding this item and Amazon? Apparently, some people already got their copies but I still don’t see on my end that they are even offering it.

Disney says it will be released on Friday. I would like to order this title from Amazon as I still have a gift card balance.

So, what’s up with this and Amazon?

I did a live chat with Amazon on Monday and was told that "it was a limited offer for pre-order of the item" and when I asked if it will be available on 2/9, I was told yes. They couldn't give me a price. I got a follow-up email stating "There is a stock limit for the pre-order of this item". So, not sure what to think except I will look for it on Friday.

Thanks! I just hope to get a copy at some point.
Is there another place where I can preorder one?

It always seemed to me that the narration was considered a vocal when the prologue was composed...yes it's spoken and not sung, but the music seems to anticipate it as if it were the melody line. Similar to narration in the prologue to Watership Down. Without the narration it doesn't feel like a complete composition. The narration-free one could be used as a karaoke version and would make for an interesting performance at the next karaoke night. I have the dialog free version from the older set and it's fine, but I wouldn't let that hold you back from an otherwise phenomenal new presentation.

Were you not here for all the hullabaloo about FSM leaving Spock's narration on over Horner's music for the end of TWOK, Roger? smile

I will say I'm shocked the words-free version wasn't at least included as a bonus track.

I try to skip over complaining when possible...I lead a happier life that way. I'm not sure why they didn't include it, other than maybe they didn't think it made sense given it is incomplete without it.

Hmm... I already have the original '91 disc and the "Music Behind the Magic" set... Can anyone weigh in on how good the newly-expanded 25 minutes of score are? I do love me some 90s Menken, but I'm not concerned about being a completist with the Legacy sets.

These companies play to many stupid games. Just make it available to the buying public when stock is ready to ship. roll eyes

Honestly I'm so used to the prologue with the narration, it would be distracting without it. Though I would've liked it on this release nevertheless.

Well, I for one am thrilled to finally be getting the cue for Maurice's departure to the fair, the wolf chase and (my favourite bit of unreleased music) the subsequent castle reveal with that magnificent brass statement!

I've always felt the same way about Morgot Kidder's spoken reading of "Can You Read My Mind". I've never understood the complaints about that and absolutely love the way it plays in the film against the visuals. Imagine how much more dated that scene would be with a sung vocal. I much prefer it to the dialogue-free version on the two expanded releases.

Looks like there are a few things up to question:

- Is the prologue instrumental or with narration?
- Is "Death of the Beast" film version or the alternate? Either way, one of these won't be on the album
- "West Wing" alternate won't be on the album (from the 1991 original soundtrack release)
- "Belle" -Reprise DEMO won't be on the album (from the Music Behind the Magic cd)

I was looking to see if a listing had appeared for this on iTunes (there hasn't) and found this SE of BATB, which contains an alternate "Death of the Beast" (track 19). Is that the same one referred to here and contained on the MBTM disc?

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/beauty-and-the-beast-special-edition-soundtrack/156774231

EDIT: And of course, it's not available in my country.

FFS!!!

I can't speak for whether of not Death of the Beast appears on the Legacy Collection as I haven't received mine yet, but it is not the same as any track from the Music Behind the Magic disc.

Yes, I see now that the track is titled "Transformation" not "Death of the Beast" on MBTM.

So is it a second alternate?

Yes, it is. It was also used as the final section of the end credits for the extended version of the film.
