Does anyone know who's really scoring this movie?

Junkie XL big grin

I am surprised anyone is interested as apart from the first movie all the others along with their music scores have been quite awful and make each episode of the TV series even more outstanding entertainment which they were anyway.

Gosh, this is a bad take, even for FSM.

I don't think I could possibly disagree with you more. The movies have gotten better and better, and the scores are for the most part phenomenal.

I hate to use review aggregators because it's such a flawed system, but the critical and audience consensus has largely been that the movies have improved as they've gone on.

Rotten Tomatoes:

62% Mission: Impossible (1996)
57% Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)
70% Mission: Impossible III (2006)
93% Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011)
93% Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation (2015)

I haven't seen the fifth one yet, but really enjoyed the first, third, and fourth.

You really should try to see the 5th. The opera scene and the entire Morocco sequence are both outstanding.

I plan on seeing it ASAP. I like the score, and I mainly like the series. Between my two-year-old and my adult spouse who hates spy movies, I've had a lot of trouble to find two-plus good hours on my own to watch it.

Could very well be Tyler, but love him or leave him Henry Jackman seems to turn up at times like this, very often jumping onboard big projects like these (i.e. Captain America, Jumanji, Kong, and he also took over for Kraemer in another Cruise series -- Jack Reacher -- although with less-than-desirable results).

I'm one of those weirdos whom like Henry's work in the Captain America films. I wasn't wild about him sounding so influenced by Zimmer, but to my ears the score worked...and I happen to own and really like the Winter Soldier CD.

Perhaps it says something that Cap is my favorite superhero, I probably wanted to like that score to begin with wink

That said, I also love Zimmer's Man of Steel (ducks).

Agreed. John Scott is the only composer out there with his finger on the pulse of what kids what to hear in a Mission: Impossible score in 2018. Does the PGA allow producers be sued for malpractice? They should be if John Scott isn't airlifted onto this project IMMEDIATELY.

In the unlikely event that Mr. Scott is unavailable, I hope that the producers do the nest best thing and get Gerald Fried to write the music or Mark Sterling, who DJ'd my wedding in 2007 for a VERY reasonable rate.

OOOOOOHHHHH, you people!!!

As much as I like Brian De Palma and Brad Bird as filmmakers (and their two films contain fantastic sequences), I believe "Rogue Nation" was the best movie of the franchise overall - the combination of smart screenplay, good characters (Sean Harris and Rebecca Fergusson...), excellent set pieces and overall tone and pacing. And even the score was great!

I love 1 and 4, but greatly dislike the others, including 5, which I found to be a pretty pedestrian follow-up to a 4, which had brilliant action sequences and genuine tension throughout. Joe Kramer's music didn't do much for me either, honestly, and I'm glad that they're making a change in that department. My guess is Tyler as well, although if Elfman made a surprise return to the series, I'd be over the moon.

You didn't think there was any tension in at least the two sequences I mentioned in 5?

Very strange perspective. ROGUE NATION was the best constructed narrative and had the greatest physical stunts of the series.

This is the one franchise where each film (with the exception of the second) has gotten better and better. I'd love to hear Joe Kraemer come back as he did a superb job with Rogue Nation. I'd be disappointed to see Brian Tyler as his music is consistently predictable and uninteresting. With these films, the fun of it is how they'll push in a new direction, and according to Chris McQuarrie, they're going for a more serious and new tone with Fallout. I'd like to hear something new and inventive. Not sure who else would bring a fresh surprise to this one.

So, according to IMDB, MI6 composer is H.Jackman.

IMDb's been wrong before. I'm really hoping they are in this case. No matter what one thinks of Tyler, he's still leagues better.

Pray for Tyler or Giacchino! We must wait for an official confirmation... But Jackman is a far better choice than other Remote Control shit composers.

From Kramer to Jackman. What a way to royally dump on a musically legacy. I guess his scores for the Kingsmen impressed Cruise. Jackman will probably be the next Bond composer at this rate...

Wow just don’t get the intense hate towards Jackman. Far worse composers out there.
