Yes! Love Story... Almost forgot to mention the artwork. Never seen this before but I like it.
Full credit is due to Quartet's art director, Nacho B. Govantes, for this. He does consistently superb work and I thought he came up with a wonderful design that symbolises the film, differentiates it from the original album, and simultaneously modernises yet evokes a period feel.
A great batch, Quartet Team! I'm particularly looking forward to the expanded edition of 'Silence of the Lambs'.
In Didier C. Deutsch's "VideoHound's Soundtracks" ā a highly recommended addition to anyone's bookshelves... it even includes a foreword by a certain Lukas Kendall ā the reviewer Charles L. Granata says that there are "some very noticeable edits in the first minute or so of the opening track" and asks "Wasn't the producer listening when they edited and mastered the album?" Given that the album's producer was none other than the composer, I found that somewhat indelicate...
I'm not sure I can hear what Mr. Granata was hearing... maybe there's a crossfade between two takes happening at around the 0.22 second mark, but other than that I don't hear anything untoward in the first minute. Can anyone else?
In any case, I'm looking forward to hearing a newly mastered and expanded version. The samples on the site sound wonderful... and the first minute of the opening title give me no cause for alarm!
Frankly, I'm glad none of these are sold out yet. My monthly entertainment budget was already exhausted by the SAE Twilight Time / MovieScore Media sales and the Kino Lorber Blu-Ray sale. These don't need to be gone in a week. At the very least, they should stick around for a month or two to give people a chance to recover.
Well... It's weird neither of them is sold out yet... quite a shame actually... people should be far more interested in such a great batch! And i am sure the next one will be at least as brilliant as this one...
Adding the titles to the thread titles might help sales (perhaps even separate threads for each title, when they're as important as the ones in this batch!)
I initially missed this thread, and had no idea that a title I was interested in (LAMBS) was being released until browsing recent (and forthcoming) releases at SAE.

So....is Amarcord completely in stereo? The samples make it seem so, but I wanna be sure...
The answer is yes! Everything on the 2 CD set is in glorious stereo. There is no difference in sound quality between the film score, the 1973 soundtrack album and the alternates & bonus tracks. Everything sounds very good.
I also have the Japanese Seven Seas WWCP7219 CD from 1993 of this score and that one also had quite good sound in comparison. But the new release may have improved on that a bit (but not significantly).
I never realised Platoon was such a masterpiece. I knew Stone had fallen in love with the Adagio for Strings and put it to great use but Delerue's score is equally magnificent. It's a revelation. Thank you, Quartet (again)!
Yikes! Only just now did I finally receive a shipping notification on my preorder of THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS from Screen Archives! I was getting really worried there for a sec!
