My s.o. dropped a three-year anniversary gift on me this evening: The Intrada Boys From Brazil!!!! This was my first ever score, had it as a little kid in the 70s, haven't heard it (though I've had fun watching the intentionally campy film) in nearly four decades. Very psyched! If I can tear Alien away from my skull long enough.

Man Hunt - Newman Oh man, great listening there! Me: Black Beauty (Elfman) Not much of a fan of Elfman, but this has been highly reccomended. I also forked over for the Intrada Jaws and SAE Black Sunday. I've got a line on my grail: Masada by Jerry Goldsmith, all that's left is a whole lotte haggling!

Not much of a fan of Elfman, but this has been highly reccomended. Just curious but what score(s) made you "not much of a fan"? Knowing can help guide me in my future recommendations by knowing what style(s) to avoid. I've got a line on my grail: Masada by Jerry Goldsmith, all that's left is a whole lotte haggling! Exciting! The Intrada of the complete original recording or the Varese of the LP recording? Yavar

The Intrada of the complete original recording or the Varese of the LP recording? Yavar I'm so obsessed I'm thinking of changing my name to Intrada Masada! I can't get over what a rocking score that is...need more!!!! Elfman...I'm not thrilled. I don't know what it is, but please understand that I'm surely underinformed when it comes to his scores. I never got interested by most of what I heard on youtube (I far preferred Zimmer and JNH's takes on Batman musically, but of course I know he's had an extensive career and the superhero stuff was only a small side of that). It's not like Herrmann or Rozsa...or hearing the Greatest Story Ever Told theme for the first time. I don't get that from his music. You know, that connection. All of my favorites moved me, whether cerebrally, emotionally, physically, or all three. But hey, it's very possible I'll have a change of heart. It probably is just ignorance of his discography. I would remember if I liked something I heard, however. Black Beauty might help me change my mind,
