I'm enjoying the score. It is a bit different than what I usually order with the small ensemble and hints of synth. My issue is I don't really think this accurately can be described as an action score. To me it is mostly suspense and not really propulsive action.
So, I cannot stop playing this. I know Dracula is the big event and that is a fabulous score, but this is the one that got me really excited in the last batch.
This was in dire need of expansion. The old album really was missing the most exciting cues with cool variations on the main theme.
All of the added action music is top notch. The Horse Chase and Snowmobile cues are so cool and I really like that alternate track at the end. I reprogrammed the track list to include it in the main program. “Forrest Found” gives you a glimpse of his Conan style in the second part of the cue.
Chief Shot is another great cue.
It’s intersing that the last two tracks are now separate. They were combined as one on the old album and I can’t remember if it appears in the film that way. It’s cool to have a clean version of the end credits.
The sound quality is night and day. No contest, this new edition sounds much more full and detailed.
This is a really great score, probably my favourite Poledouris score from the 90s along with Breakdown.
At the moment I can only pick up either the ON DEADLY GROUND or UNDER SEIGE 2 Varese expansion. If you could only get one, which one is the better expansion to get?
On Deadly Ground IMO. It’s a more diverse listening experience. Under Siege 2 is just kinda non-stop action cues. Not to say that’s bad, but I’d give Deadly Ground the edge.

Pretty much this. I probably listen to Under Seige 2 more, for that nonstop amazing Poledouris action. If you're looking for an action rush go with it for sure. But On Deadly Ground does indeed have more variety and breathing space over the course of its runtime. I wouldn't even characterize it as an action score though it has some great action parts.
Aye, while they are both great kick-ass action scores, ON DEADLY GROUND is best for me too, if only for that great Finale cue (The Warning). Emotive Poledouris at his best. Plus, I love the native Alaskan styled music with the Inuit throat singing. There's more variety to ODG. US2 is generally more full on action and suspense (but still great).

Definitely agree with what others have said... ON DEADLY GROUND to begin with, due to it's highly diverse nature. UNDER SEIGE 2 is a great follow-up, but the action can get same-y after awhile and I don't think you'll get bored with ODG. Enjoy, and make sure you have STARSHIP TROOPERS
I've been holding off on buying both ODG and US2 because the thought of having pictures of Steven Segal anywhere in my bedroom makes me uncomfortable.
But damnit, Basil was so good at fun action music. I may have to take the plunge. Are either of these scores available for download (anywhere but iTunes, which I don't use)?
On Deadly Ground is really good, but Under Siege 2 is one of my all time favourite action scores. The opening theme music set to the space satellite makes me wish Pouledouris had done a Star Trek movie.
