I would love to, but I don't see copies of LIS flying out the door. Shame too. I thought this was a knockout. C'est la vie! We'll be announcing a few more new titles very soon. Keep watching the site!

That surprises me, when I spoke to Ford T. regarding an order several weeks ago, he indicated LIS was doing quite well; I think it ought to be a steady seller. Hopefully board members passing the word to SF and Irwin Allen sites will do the trick. It's a marvelous package.

And unlike Intrada's 1000 unit sets, and Varese's mini-printings, the LIS album is "limited" to 5000 units. Obviously, nobody's expecting it to sell out in a few weeks (I hope), but I would like to think it would sell briskly enough to justify the expense on LLL's part. I really hope so, it's such a great album.

Just got my copy of the 2-CD set, and it's a marvelous release, offering new John Williams cues as well as a wide variety of selections from a host of other composers we rarely hear much about, but who obviously knew their craft. If you have any albums of television music from this era and like it, you can't go wrong with this terrific offering. And the price can't be beat either. If you don't have any albums of TV music from this era, this is as good a place as any to start.

And any CD that offers new selections from Herman Stein is ALWAYS welcome, even if I could hear traces of some of his Universal-International cues in a few of the selections. In fact, that only adds to the fun!

Great release La-La folks, and I hope word-of-mouth spreads on this, because you deserve the success. You obviously put a lot of work into this release.

I must echo the comments above! I had a great time reviewing this set for soundtrack.net and really just enjoy it overall. Previously, the only LOST IN SPACE music I owned was Vol. 1 from GNP, with 3 Williams scores. There is a truckload of great music here, realy infectious and rich. When I started purchasing the FSM MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. sets sight unseen and scores unheard, another new aspect of television scoring was opened to me. Original TREK scores were pretty much all I had for TV music from that era (though I have tons of film scores from that decade). And now this LOST IN SPACE is another treasure - congrats La-La Land! smile And not just the Williams scores are grand, but the suites Fred Steiner's "Space Circus" and Stevens' "Blast Off Into Space" are marvelous, wonderfully mixing moody textures, indelible melodies and propulsive action music.

So, should I still seek out the other 2 volumes from GNP? smile

VOL. 3 should take priority IMO...."My Friend Mr. Nobody" and "The Derelict" are great! VOL. 2 has the sillier second and third year stuff.
I was surprised that Richard La Salle's tracks didn't make the La La release.

Thanks much! I will certainly track down a copy of each of these, to make the collection complete.... smile

Forgot to mention, but if you're a classic "Star Trek" fan, you will enjoy Fred Steiner's music from "Space Circus."

LaLaLand,I echo the sentiments of other posters on this thread regarding your LIS
release, which I finally got around to playing the other day. Only two words to
say: Indescribably delicious! And now, what can you do for an encore, why, bring forth lots more offerings from Voyage,Time
Tunnel,LIS, and Giants. You know we want them; oh how we want them. I say, bring em' on; bring em' all on! Thanking you in
advance.

Maybe this would sell better if it weren't so expensive on Amazon. It's $12 more than La La Land's actual price. I wonder where Amazon got that "list price" from.

So what? There's over a dozen sellers on Amazon who are listing it around $22!

They have it Intrada for 24.99 as well.

I have to say that I just bought this CD set from Intrada along with a few other things and I am really looking forward to it based on the comments I have read here.

I also picked up the Librarian and Breakheart Pass since those seem to be running low.

I have enjoyed all the discs I have gotten from LaLaLand and I wish I could afford them all, but alas this market is too crowded for that!

So what? So, used sales do nothing for La La Land's incentive to create another volume. Used sales are irrelevant. Amazon's exorbitant retail price hurts new sales. That's what I'm talking about. I would guess that for every person who shops at Intrada or La La Land's own site, a hundred thousand people shop at Amazon.

I'd love to see another volume of this. But I think Michael has already gone on the record to say it's probably not gonna happen because of the sales on the first volume. Despite all the love poured into this, it didn't sell as well as it should have. It's a great 2 disc set and the booklet is dynamite.

If you really want to support your favorite record labels, when they come out with a new release, order it directly from THEM. Buy more than one copy. Give them as gifts.

At this point, it won't make much of a difference how much Amazon is selling this title for. This title has been out on the market for a few years now.

And we don't know where Amazon is getting their stock from and how much they are paying for it. They may not be getting it directly from LaLaLand. The pricing isn't correct, to be sure, but it's probably too late to matter.

But if you want to buy this now, you clearly don't have to pay Amazon's price for it.

As a John Williams fan, it's difficult to admit, but the first disc of this set (the JW scores) bores me to death. However, disc 2 is a lot of fun, especially Leigh Harline's work. I'd definitely purchase another volume if it ever were to surface.

I don't have this 40th anniv. set, but I have the 6CD-Irwin Allen box and the LIS, Vol. 3 CD. Personally, I don't think this is BORING music at all. It's far too "present" for that. But I would certainly admit that it's some of the most challenging things he's written. Lots of sturm-und-drang. You definitely have to be in the mood for it, and even then in small doses.

I think Thor hears this material in an abstract way and engages in music appreciation. I hear it as a trip down memory lane. It's a chicken and egg thing: I watched the episodes so many times as a boy mainly because the music was so good, but I listen to the CDs now and get transported back the childhood enjoyment of the shows themselves.

You are very right, Zap. I have zero connection to any of these series (even though I vaguely remember some reruns of THE TIME TUNNEL and LAND OF THE GIANTS series on Super Channel or Sky Channel in the mid 80's). I'm only in it for the music.
