I found this very brief "behind the scenes" video.
At 1:55 a flute theme kicks in. THIS gorgeous and melancholic music is why I hope for a future release...

Sorry, I can't let go...

Another find.
This time an ... interesting adaptation of Portman's Main Theme:

Wondered if there was any chance at finding out the details of why the project got cancelled, seeing as it seemed to be all ready to go a while back? I appreciate MV might not want to talk too much about 'the business' but i wondered if there was anything we 'the fans' could do to help this appear? ... Yeah, I know...clutching at straws....let it go!!

I thought I addressed this in another thread.

The project has been canceled until further notice.

Hi MV! Sorry, I didn't realize what you said earlier meant it was canceled, or I would have updated the wikipedia page correctly. What you said at the time (March 8th) was:

Storyteller - still in Muppet Hell. Don't expect any time soon

Friday Night Lights - delayed indefinitely. Fugedaboudit

Wikipedia page updated correctly now smile

Should we assume Friday Night Lights is never coming out as well?

Looking forward very much to your June 21st and then Comic Con titles smile

Guys, I think it's pretty clear that this project is canceled and I see no need for further elaboration from La-La Land. MV was generous enough of informing us it was in the works and at the risk of him regretting having done that, I think we should leave things as they are and be thankful we have labels looking into these scores. My two cents.

Shit Happens and I'm out several grand. That's all I will say.

Maybe some day it might be resurrected. Either by us or perhaps another label.

You never know.

In the meantime you have some awesome releases coming out by other labels and our very own.

I just want to clarify, that I am in NO way dissapointed by LaLaLand's effort.
I'm just sad, that the project is canceled.

I'm deeply impressed and grateful, that there are folks like MV out there who spend their time and energy negotiating to release those titles.

Thanks for the update MV. Sorry to hear your label lost money. I will do what I can by buying my titles exclusively from your site from now on instead of through other retailers such as moviemusic. Thank you for your continued hard work on getting these great scores out to us. smile

I wonder if Henson may want to keep distribution between themselves and Spirit, their new music partner:

Apparently Spirit are in no hurry to release The Storyteller.

Very sad, if true. A real gem that should be out there.

Quite unfortunate, I agree. I loved the show back in the day, and longed to see it again for years; I've found it's one of those things that's actually lived up to my memories of it. The music is a big part of the whole wonderful package.

I'm all for it myself. They just posted the series on Netflix Streaming two weeks ago and I've been really enjoying the series all over again.

Lovely to see Bob Peck. He was one of the best actors of his generation and he's only remembered for one movie role, sadly.

It is lovely to see him, especially since he stars in my favorite episode of the show. I actually know him most for his single-episode appearances on two TV shows, this one and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. I had to stop and think a moment before I realized what movie you must be referring to...

Wasn't quite sure how to read the Spirit announcement. Does it not seem as if there might be a chance for future releases that would include THE STORYTELLER soundtrack? This remains one of my personal Holy Grail soundtracks. Rachel Portman's music is beautiful and heartfelt all during this series. It was so cruel to potentially have a release of this and have it snatched away at the final hour!

Thought I'd link this brief Jim Henson journal entry, as it mentions Rachel Portman's work on Storyteller. I'm really hoping this music sees a release one day too...

Too sad.
I was just "listening" to some of the episodes while working and wondered if there are any news. LaLaLand seemed to be quite close to releasing it.

It was cancelled, for unspecified reasons (well, I don't recall seeing a post with a specific reason).
