Sadly, there's scores from even the late 80s and 90s that do not exist anymore, or the first generation tapes no longer exist, or their tapes weren't properly archived; such is the case with Brave Little Toaster, Batman (1989), and Bad Boys.

What are you implying? What happened to Bad Boys?

When is Die Hard LLL coming out?

Some of it was taken from a mono source, as far as I know.

When is Die Hard LLL coming out?

Less than fifteen minutes from now.

Looking at this I realized, the cue where Al Powell takes out his gun and shoots Karl isn't on the 2 CD La La Land set. Why is that? Was it made by another composer? Were the masters for that specific cue gone? Not complaining, just curious.

It was originally written by James Horner for Aliens (not used in the film, but on the Varese album) Apparently, LLL couldn't license that cue for this release.

Oh it's on the varese album? So it is released then regardless?

Actually the Horner cue WAS used in the film I don't think it was on the Varèse set.

Watch the film again.

The Horner cue for Aliens is not used in Aliens, but is included on the Varese album of Aliens titled Resolution and Hyperspace. Written for Aliens, but not used in it. Used in Die Hard, but not on the Die Hard album. Does rhat Clear that up?

Ah yes your original post was a bit confusing.

Yes. It's the cue titled Resolution and Hyperspace on both Aliens albums released by Varese. I love that cue as well. :-)

It's actually on the first bit or Resolution and Hyperspace, dialing out in favor of "Let it Snow" right around the point when the music segues to the Gayne-esque end credits.

I just got the La-La CD today, and interestingly there wasn't a single mention of the Aliens cue--not even to note that it was missing, which was odd given the nice long blurb about the John Scott piece in there.

In the film I actually find the Scott and Horner pieces quiet jarring, and at odds with the rest of Kamen's score. The Scott piece not so bad, but the Horner piece seems way out of place so I'm not that fussed whether or not they were included in this awsome set.

I completely agree. While Horner's cue is certainly terrific, it's just not a piece of music I feel necessarily gels with Kamen's composition. Now, Scott's cue, on the other hand, fits rather nicely at the end of the film. I really enjoy the vibe it brings.

The big question is, did Kamen write anything for those moments? In the commentary during the Horner piece, McTiernan mentions that the music wasn't working and that they chose to buy the temp score. My copy isn't here yet, I hope the liner notes provide insight on this.

Why did I write this if nobody cares to actually read it:

46. We’ve got Each Other 1:58 (Composed by John Scott for MAN ON FIRE)
Plays unaltered.

47. Resolution 2:49 (Composed by James Horner for ALIENS)
Is used from 0:00 to 1:36.

I did read it, haha, but I guess I misread...Sheesh, relax brother, you'll have an ulcer getting irritated over petty things.

Anyways, thanks for the clarification guys.

Okay, maybe Mink or MV can answer this for me. Are there any releases that have the classical party music? (Talking about the party music that plays at Nakatomi right after the main title.) Is this on this release (doesn't look like it), or is it available anywhere else?

Nope not included anywhere. If they were indeed recorded by Kamen (what I highly doubt) those cues seems to be lost forever.

You know what's funny is I meant to put Lol at the end of mine so you knew I was joking too...Lol. Oh well, anyways, good list.

So, can anyone with Vulcan ears definitively report if there is any music (sans the who-gives-a-crap instrumental take on "Let it Snow") on the Varese CD that did not migrate over to La-La Land's superior release? I want to make sure before I look into selling off my Varese.
